We were a family of 4 (2 adults + 2 kids) stayed there for 4 days in Deluxe double room. The room is worth for the money we pay for. The 2 beds can easily accomodate our family. We requested for an extra pillow and was provided without any charge. Also, they have 2 extra blankets in the cupboard. The room has enough no. of cupboards to pack in things for even a week long stay. The bathrooms are neat and clean without any odour. You have a 24 HOURS HOT WATER WITH GEYSER FITTED WITH OWN SWITCH CONTROL.Even the washbasin has got hot water connection.(GREAT!!!). The room has a LED tv with SCV set -top box. They give you 2 set of toiletries with 2 toothbrushes, toothpaste, comb, razor, shaving gel and shampoo in each set. Intercom is there for dialing reception( No.9) and restaurant (No.25). The room has a balcony which gives STUNNING views in night, that can be seen from bed.
Service is EXCELLENT in rooms and restaurant, at par with any private hotels/restaurants. Room service is available for restaurant orders (Tea, food) and cleaning purposes. You have purified drinking water in every floor, saving the cost of water bottles. For us, we have been given COMPLIMENTARY BREAKFAST FOR 2 PERSONS. The menu is basically idly+vada+pongal+kichadi+dosa+2 chutneys+sambar with UNLIMITED quantity. This can easily save a good amount of money for a family. Every night they arranged for BONFIRE and projector+screen for IPL matches in the lawn (free of any charge). NOT EVEN A SINGLE MOMENT WE FACED ANY ANGRY FACES FROM RESTAURTANT GUYS. KUDOS TO THE TEAM. The Restaurant has a good variety of options for Dinner mostly. Morning you can have the CP Breakfast. I did not had Lunch but they serve that as well. All dishes tasted good and fresh. We tried Chappathi, Parotta, Fried Rice, Veg Curry, Aloo Gobi Masala. No powercuts/water problem even in peak season.
Special Mention: My kid got ill the second day and vomited in the bed itself at night 12. I called the reception and they provided replacement bedhseets and blankets with out any question with smiling face. MAN THIS IS GREAT HUMANITY. THANKS. We have to just pull of the soiled sheets and blankets out of our room. Thats all.
Location is right at the heart of the city but few metres away from the hustle and bustle of the city. From railway startion / busstand, you can reach the hotel with an auto fare of 100-150. Lot of eateries availble in the Commercial Road, Charrig Cross, which is 500m away from the hotel. Some popular hotels there are A2B, KFC, Piza Hut, Junior Kuppanna. You have pharmacies, departmentall shops, vegetable/fruit shops available as well. Watch for the IOB board opp. to A2B to find the steps to the commercial road.
VERDICT: The rooms are more than worth for the money we pay. I definietely recommend this hotel toall my friends...
Read moreStayed 6 nights here in a double room that cost Rs1800+ GST in off season (room#5 on second floor. With booking portal discounts, it came to roughly 11k for 6nights.
Property is big - lot of open spaces and a "I love Ooty" selfie point in the front. Well maintained outdoors and indoors.
Room was clean and neat, towels and soap provided. Bed was hard, but front desk made alternate arrangement to make it comfortable. 2 pillows and a nice blanket that kept us warm and two more pillows and two extra blankets in the cupboard.
Room had a wardrobe, a dressing table and a mirror and luggage storage. There was enough space. Led tv with a number of channels was also provided. Room had a geyser, so 24 hours hot water. Two chairs in the room, a centre table, a dresser stool, another chair in the balcony were the other furniture. Two plug points are provided to charge your devices, but suggest carrying a multipin adapter for charging more devices.
Complimentary breakfast was south indian - though nearly the same menu - idly, dosai, pongal, upma & vadai with 2 chutneys and sambar + coffee or tea. All items tasty, well prepared and did no hard to the stomach. Service in the restaurant was quick and efficient. We did not eat lunch or dinner there.
Cons:only con is the bathroom - very poorly designed - using shower was a pain as the western wc was very close and very little room to stand. Tiled flooring in the room can get cold in the nights.
Pros: well located on the upper bazaar - close to commercial road, charring cross signal etc. But at the same time a little away in a calm, quiet, peaceful location so that you do not hear any traffic or other noise. The room had a nice view, lawns underneath, town buildings and mountains in the background. Yes, it had a nice balcony though this is the most economical room. Bathroom flooring is antiskid, so you are safe.
Tip: look for the IOB atm opposite a2b restaurant, climb the steps and turn right and walk about 100m to reach the hotel!
Lift is available. There is also a bar in the premises. Restaurant serves veg & non-veg food and fairly spacious. There are also halls for functions/conferences. Front desk was friendly and helpful and responded well to our needs. Though government owned, service and cleanliness is very good and as good as any well maintained private hotel. Thanks to the local management and team for making our stay pleasant. Will not hesitate to stay...
