Summary: High on cost, low on quality. Can give it a pass for better options.
Coincidentally, I was at the Charring Cross and I read their display board. I recollected that the place is listed in top 10 eateries in Ooty on TripAdvisor. I thought of giving it a try!
Located on the 1st floor, it’s not spacious. However, it has 6 tables(can accomodate 4 ppl) and one table for two people. The menu has varieties but make no mistake, the prices are not on the lower side as you would expect from a ‘Bhojnalaya.’
After a lot of pondering, I went with the safer option which is a Thali considering that’s a running item so shouldn’t be stale. The cost of 1 thali is Rs 190 and it comes with a cap(max 4 rotis and 1 bowl of rice). The sabzis(vegetables) include patta gobi(cabbage), mutter(peas), aloo(potato), dal and kadi. You also get khichdi and one piece of gulab jamoon.
Quality wise: I would say it’s passable. Nothing exceptionally good. Though I would be unfair to not mention that the staff was polite and courteous. I did feel the heaviness in my stomach after reaching hotel and thus I would not give it a high...
Read moreAvoid this place. Unsafe, low quality food.
We as group of 9 people had lunch here. Only north indian food was available.
It looked very unsafe food here. Most of us had heavy thirst with dry mouth and throat throughout the day after having food here. Even after drinking litres of water thirst didn't go away.
Food quality was also really really bad. Too much of oil poured into fried rice and veg biriyani. We had ordered veg puloa but he brought veg biriyani and tried convincing it is veg pulao. We had mentioned food should not be spicy while ordering itself. But he provided spicy food.
There is no coordination between waiters. Clumpsy experience of ordering.
Higiene needs improvement. The cost is also high compared to very cheap quality food. 25 rs for one phulka (they call it as roti) is...
Read moreWe visited Ooty recently and came across this simple hotel. Since it was a pure veg restaurant we thought of trying it out. When we entered the hotel we were hesitant to order food and we ordered a mix paratha, methi thepla and aloo gobi mattar masala. The food was extraordinary. It was fresh, piping hot and the flavours were bursting in the mouth. We couldn’t stop eating. The next day we went for lunch and had aloo paratha and khichdi, another day of amazing food. Their mix veg pakoda is a light snack which is irresistible. Throughout the stay in Ooty, we ensured to eat atleast once in this place. It’s a very simple hotel with very flavourful dishes. The hotel staff are humble and friendly. And the price of the food is very reasonable. Will definitely eat here every time...
