Visited this restaurant with family for lunch on Sunday, 24-03-2024 for my daughter's treat. Had been to this restaurant couple of times on my previous visits to Ooty. Food, service and ambience used to be amazing. But this time it was very very disappointing. After I read the reviews from others, I realized that more negative feedbacks have come in during the last one year. Not sure if there is a management change or they have any internal issues. For sure, it is not customer first principle, but this restaurant is just a cash cow for Nahar group. They might be targeting only the floating tourist crowd and hence a dip in their values. When we gave our feedback to the manager, he was least bothered to listen nor to ask sorry. I would HIGHLY NOT RECOMMEND this restaurant when you are in Ooty. There are better veg restaurants nearby.
Let me list the pro's & con's of this restaurant.
Pro's: Located in heart of the city and hence very easy to reach Very good ambience, both inside and outside Full veg restaurant Ample parking space Clean rest rooms Fire place, much needed during cold winter nights
Con's: Food is average. Even the adjacent table group were complaining about the quality of south indian thali. Served butter nan, without any butter on it. Drinking water was not served until we were half done with our lunch. This was despite repeated reminders. It was the same state of affairs for the neighboring tables also. Is drinking water so scarce for them? Kadai paneer vegetable gravy ordered lacked salt. For the soup, they didn't give us salt and pepper bottles until we almost finished drinking it. For the babycorn manchurian starter, they didn't give us any extra sauce. Lack of spoons, plates, etc. Overly priced. Rates have doubled compared to pre-covid times. Spent Rs. 1830 for 4 persons. Ordered 2 soups, 1 masala pappad with veg toppings, 1 baby corn manchurian, 3 butter nan's, 1 kadai paneer gravy, 1 veg biriyani. Staff is not responsive and ignore the customer.
NOT RECOMMENDED...
Read moreI had visited this restaurant in late September for lunch with my family of size 10. It was crowded and had to wait for about 15 minutes to get a table to accommodate all of us. There was no floor manager for better handling of crowd. The stewards were busy in serving and cleaning. We were advised to be ready with our order during wait time but no one turned up to take the same when we occupied the table. It took 5-10 minutes for them. The quality of food was awful and didn't justify the high price. We ordered Roti's, Kadai veg, shahi paneer and kaju curry. None of the curries were good in taste. Shahi paneer was very sweet as if it was a kheer; kaju curry was very salty and oil was floating in kadai veg. The taste was not at all authentic. Since we all were hungry, we somehow finished the food. The washroom and toilet had another story to tell. There were not clean. Faucets had no enough force for the water and the flush was not working in the ladies toilet. Finally, when the bill was paid using card, they forced us to pay the tips. Not at all...
Read moreVery poor service. Less number of waiters. Some of them r deaf or acting as deaf atleast when u try to order more. One waiter was very rude. Did not even answer us when v asked him about our ordered food. This is regarding garden restaurant.During lunch we had to go to another restaurant inside Nahar. It was raining outside and v went there around 2 pm .power supply was cut off. They were using emergency lights to lit up such a big place. People there were already in chaos. No body were sure what they were eating as there was no light. When enquired waiters were answering that they r not responsible.power back up failed due to thunder. Such a big hotel had such rubbish answers. Almost after 20 minutes v got place to sit. V got our lunch after 1 hr which was pathetic. V were fortunate enough at least the food( i.e breakfast and dinner) at garden restaurant was atleast nice though...
