Holy River Stays — Hotel in Uttar Pradesh

My friend and I (from Australia) booked this place based on the 5 stars reviews. The location is complicated and not easy to navigate. The narrow lanes of Varanasi maybe charming but they soon become tiresome and it's hard to find anything to eat around the area that was safe for our tummies. It not an ideal spot if you are not from India. The room and bathroom were small and the rooftop not like in the photos. There was 1 broken chair and a squat toilet so we didn't really use it. The neighbors spent hours yelling at the birds, calling them (I can't explain it) and it was very annoying. We met the owner on arrival. He said breakfast would be served at 10 am. At 11 am we were still waiting in the room and then Kuldeep came with breakfast. He said one of his staff would show us around and take us to the temple free of charge. At 2 pm we were still waiting so we decided to go out on our own. We met a staff member at the bottom who told us the temple was closed. We were very confused and left for the day. We then went out on a boat ride organized by Holy River stays. We were lucky there was an India couple who spoke English with us on the cruise. We had no idea what was going on and the boat driver ignored us the whole time. We didn't even know we had to find our way back to the hotel from the location he dropped us. The boat ride was, however, great and we loved it. We moved to a different hotel after the first night and went to Assi ghat and it was so much better, location and hotel. I was not feeling very well so The owner offered to help us move to the new hotel free of charge, which was really nice of him. The staff, however, argued the tips we gave them. They didn't want to let us leave if we didn't pay them more, as female travelers we felt very threated but their behavior. Overall the hotel is average, I would not stay there again but maybe...

J'ai réservé un taxi de l'aéroport par l'intermédiaire de l'hôtel. Prix annoncé par écrit : 1000 inr confirmé par messagerie Booking.com. Sauf qu'à l'arrivée le prix passe de 1200 inr. Refus de ma part, par principe.|On doit faire 600 m à pied à travers ruelles sales et étroites pour arriver. Aucune voiture, ni Tuk-Tuk ne peuvent approcher plus près. Vous êtes tributaires de l'hôtel pour les bagages.|J'ai demandé par messagerie si les voitures pouvaient arriver jusque l'hôtel, la réponse a été : Oui !|Puis quand j'ai dit que des commentaires disaient le contraire, la réponse a été : Oui !|Puis: on vous enverra des porteurs de bagages.|Porteurs bagages compris. A l'arrivée j'ai quand-même voulu donner 100 roupies à chacun des porteurs. Quand j'ai voulu donner l'argent, ils n'ont pas voulu le prendre. PAS ASSEZ ! Ils ont donc eu ZERO roupie.|Quartier sale, vide et peu rassurant la nuit tombée. Nous n'avons toutefois pas eu de problème.|Pas de restaurant. J'ai demandé si on pouvait avoir un repas sur place. Réponse ; Oui !|La nourriture est certainement acheté dans la rue, facturée à prix fort sans aucune garantie d'hygiène.|Terrasse vide. Rien que le sol pour s'asseoir. On nous dit que le mobilier de terrasse est juste pour les photos sur les sites de réservation. C'est vrai, sur le site, il y a des petites tables, en réalité, RIEN |Quand je demande 2 chaises en terrasse, on me répond qu'elles sont utilisées pour les chambres.|Chambre sale, lavabo, sols. Voir photos |Tâches sur les draps, vraisemblablement pas changé entre les clients.|Poubelle salle de bain non vidée|Chambre annoncée à 23 M2, ne fait en fait que 3m x3m soit 9 M2. + 2 M2 salle de bain. Mensonge encore.|Bouilloire présente mais pas de verre, ni tasse.|Une seule chaise en plastique.|Pas de place pour les bagages. Vous devrez refermer vos valises à chaque fois.|Pas d'étagère de salle de bain. |Plastiques de protection de la climatisation non retiré, idem pour les portés de placards. Très décoratif !|Dès mon arrivée, on me propose d'annuler gratuitement ma réservation et de payer en cash tout de suite pour éviter les taxes et la commission Booking.com. Je comprends maintenant pourquoi. Pas de possibilité de quitter cet endroit en payant qu'une nuit et pas d'avis Booking.com!|Le personnel dors sur les lits d'un des chambres non occupées par des clients. Problème, le ménage ne sera pas refait.|Les chaussons de chambre disponibles ont déjà été utilisés.|Tout n'est que faux et mensonge.|Du jamais vu !|Prix exorbitant pour une telle chambre, 2540 inr TTC.|J'ai séjourné et payé une seule nuit sur 2 et quitté l'hôtel. Paiement en cash uniquement.|Cette chambre de 9 M2 sale et sous équipée ne vaut pas plus de 1000 inr.|Seuls points positifs : à 5 minutes des Ghats.|Je réserve environ 20 nuitées par an sur Booking.com et je n'ai jamais vu autant d'hôtel avec des notes aussi élevées et une prestation aussi basse qu'en Inde. Beaucoup de photos ne représentent pas la réalité. Je pense que beaucoup d'avis favorables sont faux. Sur 22 réservations de mon voyage en Inde, deux établissements méritaient leur note. 19 avaient des moyennes de 2 ou 3 points au dessus de leur valeur.|Concentrez vous sur les notes les plus basses. Elles reflètent le plus souvent la réalité. Comment les clients peuvent ils laisser des notes de 8 ou 9 à une telle accumulation de défauts ? |Mon voyage en Inde restera toutefois...
