It was┬аbuilt in 1693 by Mughal emperor Aurangzeb for his private use. It is one of the few surviving structures of the Qila-e-Ark, a fortified palace complex built as Aurangzeb's residence in Aurangabad, and is situated in its eastern flank.Located on the Panchganga Ghat, Alamgir mosque is one of the most picturesque locations in Varanasi. The mysterious architecture towering right above the Panchganga Ghat has attracted the attention of millions since the 17th century. ItтАЩs rustic look and gigantic domes stand out against all the contemporary architectures developed around it.Known by the name of Beni Madhav Ka Darera or AurangzebтАЩs Mosque this architecture holds significant importance in the books of history. Alamgir mosque is located at the place where once stood a temple of Lord Vishnu( Beni Madhav Ka Darera). The French merchant Jean Baptiste Tavernier who made many voyages to India was awestruck by the beauty of the temple. He mentioned the temple as тАЬthe great pagodaтАЭ in his travel account. The Alamgir Mosque is located on Panchganga Ghat. The best way to reach Alamagir Mosque is by walking through the ghats. One can walk towards the Panchganga from Manikarnika Ghat or can take a boat from any ghat to the...

This splendid monument is maybe the most beautiful on the shore of the Ganga in Varanasi. According to Hindu militants, it was built on the site of an old Hindu temple (this kind of legends are told about a lot of other mosques), but the evidence is not entirely convincing and the sources are not really serious. According to others, the property was given to the mughal emperor Aurangzeb by a Hindu family after their daughter was protected by him against people with bad intentions. This mosque is the symbol of the Indian glory at the time of Aurangzeb, the unifier of India. At that time, India was the most powerful country in the world militarily and economically. This majestic mosque adds a special character to the banks of the Ganges, most of whose buildings are quite banal. The view you see there is amazing. It is a must visit...

This is very beautiful and relaxing place. I really like this place. It is licated at near panchganga ghat. I recommend if you want to visit this place so visit at sunset or sunrise time because it is best place for this, beautiful view point in varanasi. No any entry charges are needed for this place. You also click photos and videos. For reaching out this place there is two way one is by ghat and second is by road. By ghat is shot and easy but lots of stairs are there so if you don't go by stairs so you needs to second road which is located near by kaal bhairo temple.

One more advise when you visit this mosque just side of this mosque one most important temple is there, bindu madhav temple. You also needs to vistit...

Alamgir Masjid, Varanasi The Alamgir Masjid, located in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, is a significant historical mosque built by the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb in the 17th century. It stands on the banks of the Ganges River at Panchganga Ghat, one of the cityтАЩs famous ghats. The mosque is known for its architectural blend of Islamic and Hindu styles. It is believed that the mosque was constructed after Aurangzeb destroyed a Hindu temple that previously occupied the site, which is said to have been dedicated to Lord Vishnu. This historical association gives the mosque a unique and somewhat controversial place in VaranasiтАЩs history. The structure has tall minarets (which have since been damaged) and a striking fa├зade that overlooks the Ganges. The mosque is also referred to as "Beni Madhav ka Darera" by locals, reflecting its connection to the siteтАЩs past.
