Read moreBlue Lassi Shop in Varanasi, India is a must-visit destination for anyone looking for a delicious and authentic lassi experience. Located in the heart of the city in Kachaudi Galli, this 74-year-old shop has been serving up delicious lassis in hundreds of flavors for generations.
One of the things that set Blue Lassi Shop apart from other lassi shops in Varanasi is the fact that all the lassis are prepared fresh right in front of your eyes. The lassis are then beautifully garnished with fruits and dry fruits before being served in kulhads (earthen pots), giving them a rich and creamy taste that is hard to find elsewhere.
This small shop derives its name from its blue walls that are filled with photographs, messages, and even postcards of customers from in and around the world which I found really cool. Over the years, this thing has become like a custom in the shop.
I tried their Mixed Fruit Lassi which was made with yogurt, sugar, and lots of refreshing seasonal fruits that give it a unique and irresistible flavor. It had a thick and creamy texture and possessed a perfect balance of sweetness and tanginess.
You can also try their Mango Lassi, which is made with fresh, ripe mangoes and yogurt as well as Kesar Lassi made with flavorful saffron. Trust me, the sweet and refreshing flavors of these lassis are bound to win your heart!
Since the shop is located on the way to Manikarnika Ghat, you will get to hear ‘Ram Ram Satya Hai’ chants with family members of the deceased people carrying dead bodies on their shoulders passing by the shop every now and then while you sip your lassis, which I don’t think, you get to witness anywhere else. The staff is super friendly and efficient, so you never have to wait long for your lassi in spite of the shop always being busy with locals and tourists. The owner and waiter have a good understanding of English and Hindi, which makes it easy to communicate with them.
Although the prices are a bit on the higher side, the experience you will get here is worth it!

Read moreI recently had the pleasure of visiting Blue Lassi Shop in Varanasi, and it truly lived up to its reputation as one of the best places for lassi. Situated in the heart of the city, this charming shop is a must-visit for anyone looking to experience the authentic flavors of Varanasi.
We tried both the Mix Fruit Lassi and the Dry Fruit Lassi. The Dry Fruit Lassi was absolutely phenomenal - ekdum piker maja aega! In the scorching heat of Varanasi, finding such a refreshing and delicious lassi is a blessing. The richness of the dry fruits blended perfectly with the creamy lassi, creating an unforgettable taste. It was truly a treat for the taste buds and something I would highly recommend to anyone visiting the shop.
On the other hand, the Mix Fruit Lassi was a bit of a letdown. Despite being packed with a generous amount of fresh fruits, it lacked the expected flavor. The combination of fruits didn't come together as harmoniously as we had hoped, which was a bit disappointing considering the high expectations we had.
One of the standout features of Blue Lassi Shop is its incredible variety. With over 100 different types of lassi to choose from, there is something for everyone. Whether you prefer something classic or want to try a unique blend, this place has it all. The sheer range of options is impressive and adds to the overall experience.
However, the service could use some improvement. We had to wait for about 40-50 minutes before our lassi was served, which was quite a long time. While the quality of the lassi made up for the wait to some extent, faster service would certainly enhance the overall experience.
In conclusion, Blue Lassi Shop is a fantastic spot for lassi lovers. The Dry Fruit Lassi is an absolute must-try, and the extensive menu ensures there's always something new to discover. If they can work on reducing the waiting time, this place would be perfect. Despite the minor hiccup, I would still highly recommend Blue Lassi Shop for its delicious lassis and unique atmosphere. A visit here is a delightful journey into the rich flavors...
