WORST EXPERIENCE FROM A FAVOURITE CUSTOMER GreenPark Lawns (Meadows) Wedding Reception Experience
I have been a regular customer at GreenPark’s restaurant and often visit for buffet lunches. The spread and food quality there have always been excellent, which is why I expected the same standards when I attended a wedding reception at GreenPark Lawns (Meadows) yesterday. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing.
While I understand receptions are conducted within a limited budget, that cannot be an excuse for compromising on basic quality and service. Yesterday’s event was far below GreenPark’s reputed standards:
Service was disorganized and chaotic.
Plates were frequently unavailable.
Dishes were empty for long periods, and refills lacked freshness.
Food quality was poor — stale Manchurian, soggy fried rice, and substandard preparations overall.
Counters were mismanaged, making the dining experience unpleasant.
To add context, when my wife mentioned attending a reception here, a friend warned her not to eat at GreenPark receptions as the food is usually poor. I dismissed it, believing in GreenPark’s brand and past experiences. Sadly, that warning proved true.
This negligence doesn’t just spoil one function — it damages your reputation permanently. Yesterday, you didn’t just lose me as a customer, but also many others who attended. As a businessman, I understand the power of word-of-mouth, and you risk losing hundreds of potential customers and party orders if such standards continue.
If GreenPark cannot maintain quality at receptions, it is better not to take such bookings than deliver such a substandard experience. Honestly, even a roadside vendor would have delivered better food.
For a hotel that claims to be a star property, this was nothing short of shameful. Anyone who attended that reception would think twice before hosting or recommending GreenPark Lawns (Meadows) for any occasion.
GreenPark, you are sitting on a ticking time bomb of negative publicity unless you take urgent steps to restore quality and service.

Read moreOur company's annual day celebration at Green Park was a fun event, but one detail could have significantly improved the experience. The open ground venue offered a fantastic atmosphere, but it's May month, the heat was brutal. Even at 8 pm, the temperature remained stubbornly high, making everyone quite uncomfortable. Thankfully, the function itself was held in a cool, closed auditorium, a welcome escape from the scorching sun.
However, the comfortable confines of the auditorium gave way to a different challenge – the food service, which unfortunately returned us to the open ground. The food itself was delicious – the biryani, chili chicken, and a refreshing finishing touch of curd were all fantastic. However, the lingering heat took its toll. As we enjoyed this delightful spread, most of us ended up sweating quite a bit. If strategically placed tower fans had been positioned around the corners, it would have significantly improved the comfort level and allowed everyone to truly savor the delicious meal.
Speaking of the food itself, the biryani, chili chicken, and curd were absolute stars. For the vegetarian options, I can only vouch for the deliciousness of the baby corn. While I didn't delve into the other vegetarian dishes, the overall feedback suggested some room for improvement in the noodles, chicken gravy, and naan.
Despite the heat-related discomfort at the dinner service, the overall experience was enjoyable. The company's service was excellent, and the scrumptiousness of some dishes definitely outweighed any shortcomings in others. Here's hoping that next year's annual day celebration can find a way to incorporate the open-air atmosphere of Green Park while keeping the food nice and cool, perhaps with the strategic use of tower fans in the corners. That small touch would have made a world of...
Read moreOur stay at the Green Park Hotel Chennai was worth every bit, with regard to the convenience, accessibibility and above all the service. The staff ensured not to stick to the framework of what they were trained to do, however serviced their guest with passion to what their were doing, the essence of service i.e, they were trained and they used their intellect according to the situation without breaking any rules. This also speaks immense of the management who has empowered the staff to think and to understand what the true essence of service means.
I can share three instances, Staff Libika at the reception who ensured that she heard, understood and acted in accordance to the requirement at that given time. We needed an early checkin and an early check out too. At any instance when I had a query, it was instant solution that was offered. This is rarely seen these days.
Another instance was when we had walked to the mall opposite the hotel and it started raining. One call to the hotel and they sent a staff ( name Shinan) with an umbrella, it took a max of 5 mins. This responsiveness shown by the staff who attended the call as well as the staff who came to the mall is truly commendable. (I wish I knew their names)
The morning breakfast was a taste that I relished. The restaurant manager ensured that the best filter coffee was served and that too in the manner that I requested it to be. The service was excellent.
Green Park Hotel is surely a go to hotel and if the staff there continues to follow the manner in which Lipika, the restaurant manager as well as the person who attended the phone call when we were in need of help, offered to do so, Green Park will surely be the best.
Thank you so much for ensuring our day and stay there...
