Staff is young and energetic , courteous . However, need bit of more training. At reception few foreign guests were struggling to get their linen cleaned but complimentary machine provided by Holiday inn is not working . If you can’t keep up promise why to make such promises. Because m/c options was given those guy had lot of dirty linen accumalted and now they are nowhere to go. ☹ Sad and pity situation. Rooms are obviously small manageable for single person but clear No No for family. There is hardly any place to keep even one hand bag and one laptop bag. So if you are more than one, probably you gotta sleep over your baggage 😊 This particular hotel of Chennai is on main road and windows are not that sound proof. So one may lose sound sleep . higher floor and opposite side room are recommended to be little better off. Buffet breakfast and dinner doesn't give value for money with kind of cleanliness and cramp space. Provided with live cockroaches ( instead of live counter) yak.. Bills given does not have GST number of hotel printinted. May be it's printed. In corner and Holiday Inn Express seems to be cutting corners.. so GST never got printed. ,😞 When I noticed this , i had Called up hotel on their landline number @ 4:00 PM Saturday 29-6. Even After four rings no one picked up nor called back. (See attached screenshot of my call history)
So in all its not staff problem , it is either under staff, less training, process and management issue for poor ratings.
All major brands who are in this economical segment pyramid , be it Tata – ginger / IHG Holiday Inn express / Lemon tree, Marriot and many more I have experienced has more or less same story …in pursuit of profit they forget that they are into hospitality segment . Where hospitality should come before profits.. obviously Biz want big share of wallet in all major customer segment.. hence they created new segment with different brand . to me as marketer I see Problem is too capture bottom of the pyramid they want to keep Price low. To keep price low they only reduce cost components w/o compromising on profit %age and w/o innovative ideas. the result is abysmally low customer satisfaction and Retention. Its wake up call for all who underscore customer dissatisfaction with assumption that “This shall pass too” . They will send mechanised apology on social media with no actionable. (I'll get too soon may be more or loss same wordings) . If you are really serious then why similar nature complaints are repeating…even if someone raised it just few weeks back.
just because India seems to be lacking strong grievance redressal you and your profits are protected. But one day some errant client or along with Non corrupt Public servant can make you run for your mistakes and lapses.. so be careful.. its wake up call . look at the number of bad reviews of social media. Please be serious in handling compliant, be honest and be true to your hospitality industry. Such bad complaints not only affects brand image of your hotel but also of your industry and country.. It makes impression that is desh main to aisa hi chalta hain...

I booked for 3 people upfront by mentioning clearly that my son aged 14 would be staying with us. I was charged a higher rate for this "facility", but when I went to the hotel, they gave me grief saying they know nothing about it. Even when I showed them the booking.com confirmation. If they cannot honor reservations taken through third party websites, they should have the listing removed. Who wants to deal with such troubles on a holiday?
Totally unresponsive and irresponsible management. I asked for an extra bed since we were three people. They kept promising it would come in "ten minutes", only to keep us up till 11:30PM, after which one of us slept on the floor! Shame holiday inn.
Same issue next day, they kept wrangling till 7:00PM and finally delivered the bed after informing me that I would be charged for it. Even when I agreed to pay (even though the booking said 1 extra bed would be provided and included in the cost), they were unwilling or unable to comply with this simple request.
Very far from anything else. If you don't have your own transport, you will struggle like hell and be stuck in the hotel since Uber and Ola do not service this area very efficiently. You will deal with local auto guys with their scams included for no cost!
The room was very cold since the AC was set to very low. They had a deceptive temperature control which just would not budge even when set to very high. Later we found that the temperature control does not work since the building temperature is controlled centrally. Meaning each room cannot have its own temperature control.
Luke warm water in the showers. Never bothered to find out what was the reason because I got tired of arguing with these clowns.

Read moreFirstly , it was a 3 Star hotel . We checked in 30 min before the actual time . We went to the room . It was quite small but comfortable . We were on the third floor ( the building had a total of 7 floors )
Secondly , we paid for the dinner along with our early reservation . But when we reached the dining area , we weren't provided with the food for the cost that we've paid ( we were told that we can only buy limited food for a fixed amount which was not pre-informed ) . Later , only when we encountered about the actual terms that they had for dinner , we were provided with the food for the cost that we've paid . Poor waitress didn't know anything about it , without us asking for it . And lots of dishes like Chicken bowl , garlic bread etc., were unavailable too ( even when we reached there as earlier as 8pm )
Thirdly , we never really had access to any Tamil channels in the television in our room . When asked , they just say that it had been a problem since the day before for all the rooms . Couldn't you look at it even after a guest's request ?! And importantly , the room service call was not picked up occassionally too even after ringing so many times .
The next day ( we couldn't experience the sunrise view from the topmost floor . Not the inn's fault , but a bad day for us ) we went for our complimentary breakfast by 8:30-8:45 am . There were so many varieties . We particularly liked Chicken sausage , cold coffee and some Tamilnadu dishes . It was the only 10/10 satisfactory thing in our stay .
And finally , before the check-out we were called upon by them 20 minutes earlier .
