This is an excellent Chinese restaurant in OMR road. I've personally heard a lot about the Flower Drum in Adyar, but this one certainly blew my mind. Parking is available downstairs though it tends to be crowded during weekends. It's situated in Okkiyam and the entrance somewhat looks like that of a flat. Lift is there to get to the restaurant. The entrance looks a bit dull but once you're inside the ambience is amazing. We were greeted well by the staff, they also gave us pretty good recommendations when it came to the food. They had a pretty good variety of starters out of which we really liked the dim sums and crispy lotus stem. I'd recommend trying the mixed dim sums to get more variety out of it. We went for the sizzler option and I think it was definitely better to go for that instead of noodles or fried rice. They have a good choice of sizzlers to choose from as well. This was a super cool fine dining option to have a quiet dinner with...
Read moreI ordered pho bo, it is a Vietnamese flavourful soup which is non spicy with freshly garnished vegetables. I got a soupy noodles which was extremely spicy and did not have authentic flavours, and someone came to me and explained the soup is pho bo very confidently. Also ordered a kimchi salad which was sugary sweet, kimchi is usually spicy and fermented but it was not the case here. The salad was a bunch of cut vegetables in some sweet sauce. This place is a rip off for vegetarian diet they just serve the same food they already make with the advertisement that it is Thai or Vietnamese. Finally to top off all that it had a very high foot traffic and a wait time even if you book a table. First come first serve. For a food which is not so good i travelled a long distance, waited for my turn, got tutored on my favourite foods and paid a hefty price. Suggest chef to learn more about Vietnamese soupy noodles pho which is the heart of...
Read moreThe worst dinner ever. I love Green Thai curry and this is the first place who managed to make me hate it. There was no smell or richness of coconut. It was a sad replica using poor quality ingredients. The tomato soup - I ordered for my son. Tomato soup is usually so fragrant. This one was bland, oily and with a hint of sweetness - gross tasting. My sin hardly had 2 spoons! Moving to Spinach corn cheese rolls, the restaurant called to say they didn’t have it and Momos cost more but they don’t mind sending it at same cost. Momos tasted like paper stuffed with more paper. And the cost of spinach roll was higher than the momos - so the restaurant called and lied to me about the cost!! One awesome thing about their order is the quantity - it’s a lot. So more space occupied in your dustbin Cuz it tastes like filth and hence we can’t eat it anyway. Never again...
