I went to this property in Chennai for a business trip.I have already stayed in Sarovar resorts in Allappey and Idukki so I had no other doubts or concerns in my mind during a telephonic booking. After my arrival at hotel the situation was horrible.A person named Stephan was so adament and arrogant and he asked us to wait in the lobby as there where other guests waiting for check in.He told me that I will be called when my turn comes.He just bossed around and vanished.I waited for 15 minutes and I went to a lady at the reception.I dont remember her name though.Gave her the identity card and personal details and waited for getting a room.She took relevent details from me and the usual procedure is to allocate the room keys.But she also asked me to wait for sometime.Mr Stephan had come back by this time and saw me at the check in area and was annoyed for allocating me room before some guest who was waiting for around half an hour. I waited in the lobby and found few customers coming to lobby and shouting for differnet reasons..AC not working for 3 hours..lock not working and inmates got stuck in the room for hours...etc etc.. I felt from my heart not to stay at the hotel and wanted to go out ASAP.I went to the lobby and asked back my credentials provided for check in.The staff at the reception has misplaced those document and I had to literally shout and create a scene to get back those. I lost almost 45 minutes in the lobby after a long and tiresome travel fighting with the staffs. I came across a person who was asked to check in in some other's credentials and he was not willing to..so funny situation though.
My dear friends..please opt this property only if you have a enough patience and enough energy to fight with the staff to get a room alloted..Otherwise there are lot more options in and around the area.

Read moreWe had engagement function on 14.5.2017in the Coorg Hall of the hotel. At the time of booking we specified for the best arrangement in all aspects. The Authority concern also assured us of providing the best arrangement. On arrival at the Hotel on the function day we were shocked to find the passage leading to Coorg Hall was poorly lit. Moreover, Engagement Board that we asked them to display at the entrance was not provided. This led to confusion to many of our guests.The Hotel is called as a Star Hotel only for name sake . But,the real fact is 'hollow'. They call it a Star Hotel but i am ashamed to say that the Lift was not working . Many of our guests were disappointed as they were compelled to climb the staircase with great difficulty.Moreover the Staircases were unclean and poorly lit.The entrance was very shabby.Air-Conditioning & brightness in the Hall was very very poor. It seems that the Hotel Authority deliberately switched off the Air-Condition. Many of the guest felt uneasy to sit in the Hall during the function. Furthermore, during the dinner there were only two or three servers engaged. But after a few minutes there too disappeared and our guest themselves turned to act as servers. Dining tables were not arranged for the elderly guest to sit and eat. Though, we had specifically highlighted all the above aspects at the time of booking and the hotel Authority also assured us of the best t arrangements, they did not keep up their words Moreover when the complaint was lodged before the Manager, he did not heed to our requests. With all these bitter experience of ours, we have decided not to have any function in ABU SAROVAR PORTICO HOTEL hereafter and will not recommend this...

Starters, we were looking for it , there it was cold chicken tandoori marinated ones kept in Bain marie..it was like cold and dry and it was all of same taste with different colours..
Biriyani was okaii..rest everythin was bad.. baby corn was uncooked and raw..cabbage fry was like kept open I guess. Ain't crispy so hard to eat.
No water bottle on my table..service staffs were stuck towards the buffet counter..and we had to peep to call anyone..
No icecreammmm..or for the fact I cudnt locate easily..
No welcome juice as well, soup lacked taste and cruet set wasn't kept on my table either.
So for a new year one it was very bad and I had to ask everyone sorry for the buffet experience.. this place used to be best..but shocked now..is it the corona staff story ? I am not sure, but I feel bad that this place is this way..
Lights were all off in the restaurant..and ambience was dark..even in lobby it was lookin so dull with very less lights ..not much lit at all.
I guess the persons should get back to keeping the hotel appear well lit, such that person's visiting Sherlock's pub can very well notice and come more...
