You have a confirmed room booking! You inform the hotel that your Indigo flight is delayed by three hours!! You arrive and book the earliest cab and reach the hotel!! Approach the reception and the conversation is as follows: HR: Your booking has been cancelled. Me: Already informed the manager about the flight and revised time to reach the hotel. HR: No, only the manager told me to cancel. Me: How can you say booking is cancelled when I have informed HR: We called, you didn't not pick up Me: How do you expect me to pick the phone when am on the flight ✈️! HR: I don't know, your room has been alloted to another walk in guest. There are no rooms. This goes on for 12 minutes before the hotel staff and two guests. Finally I tell him firmly to connect me to the Manager who completely gives a different version. He allots me a room, " little small but will change the room tomorrow at 1100" The room was so small that two of us could not even walk inside the room nor change sleeping positions. Next day, the lady at the reception doesn't have a clue...another male voice to inform that room will be ready at 1200.. Wait...wait and keep waiting...By this time one has walked up and down the stairs twice to follow up. When you return the key does not open...not just for me two others in the same floor. The room is finally ready by 1245 after cajoling and motivating the boy who was cleaning the room. Breakfast time begins at 7.30...when you arrive thete, only few items available!! Please see photos at 7.45 AM. Whatever items were placed they were palatable!! Looks grand exterior! Located so close to Railway station and great eateries. BUT When customers are not treated properly (Forget customer is King stuff), even the basic etiquette missing, tone and language does not behove the hospitality industry.... one may not attain great heights in growth...
Read moreI had a wonderful experience of being compassionate and kindness.
I am a mom of 8 month kid. Myself and my husband traveled from salem to chennai for business purposes over train.
Just came across the restaurant only to have my lunch. But, kid was so hungry and i just checked with the person at the reception, mentioning I came for having lunch , since kid is hungry... Is there any feeding room? But to my surprise and with no further delay, he provided me a hotel room which was excellent, fully cleaned... and asked me to comfort myself and kid.
Then we had some food at the restaurant as well. We had Kerala parotta, hot - flaky - thin - nicely done with Green peas masala. Perfect combo, as well we had Mushroom pulao and Egg chilly, again a great combo of subtle pulao with spiced up chilly egg.
The serving person was also so kind and the service was great. You can expect a slight waiting time as all the other fine dine restaurant but the food served will be worth the wait.
Also we asked for hot water for kid ceralac mix. And they provided all the small things we requested for with no other expectation except just out of kindness.
The food tasted even better with my experience with them. I strongly recommend this restaurant and hotel for all.
Special thanks to the people at the restaurant for being kind and helped me a lot with the kid. 🙂 Thanks to the friendly staffs...
Read moreI had a great stay at Madras Grand. Loved it completely. Thankyou for the overall experience. Truly grateful for the same.
As a solo women traveller, & visiting Chennai for the first time, the Stay in the Hotel Madras Grand was awesome. Courteous & Supportive Staff , Breakfast was well served & really tasty ( specially Carrot Halwa , fresh fruit juice & freshly cooked omlette on demand .
I could see even the small details done to make the stay extremely comfortable. To share a few (apart from other facilities)
I need to know the direction (NSEW) before I sleep, was using digital compass on mobile when I realised there is a printed compass on the ceiling showing direction W(west) , this was unique to me .
Branding was greatly done, even on water bottles .
Multiple Clocks showing different timezones of different countries
Phone in the room had specific buttons for reception - restaurant etc . No need to remember the numbers.
Room was well lit , including Cov light behind the bed , soothing when u sleep in mild lighting.
To conclude - A budget friendly Classy Experience.
My best wishes for more Success to Madras Grand . Keep up...
