Wow, we absolutely loved our stays at Hyatt Regency Bali! We went to Bali in June 2023, we stayed there for 4 nights on the first stay and then 3 additional nights after spending 5 nights at a different accommodation. We love the hotels, from the hotel ground, location, room, lounge, services, and so many other things!
Service Check-in: Amazing, even before we arrived! Since we had a really long flights before arriving in Bali, we worked with the hotel for transportation from airport to hotel. On our first stay, we have reservation for 4 suites. We asked to get at least 1 or 2 suites available for early check-in since my family of 4 will be arriving first. And they delivered. The front desk service at check-in was amazing too. We got to know Adithia (spelling?). He was great that when I had to go back to the front desk the next day and also when I see him again on the return stay, he remembered my name and I had a good conversation with him. On my return trip too, during return trip too, check-in counter was so full. One of the service managers came to us to help us check-in while we were waiting. Once I mentioned my name, it seems like they were prepared and said welcome back, knowing I was just there 5 days ago, though I have not talked to her. Wonderful hospitality!
Service others: The awesome service continued with other areas too. The staffs at the club lounge were fantastic! Staffs at other things were awesome too. We took 6am bike tour. The staff (Anam) was absolutely fantastic! I didn't bring my wallet during that bike tour and I felt bad for not giving him tip. I couldn't find him afterward on our first stay. On our return trip, I always have tip ready for Anam just in case we ran into him. And sure enough, my family saw him and he recognized us too. I made sure to give him the tip for his amazing service! We also got birthday cake and decoration on the room for my daughter's birthday!
Food: we enjoyed the food at the lounge for breakfast and also during cocktail hours. The food selection was great. The club lounge was definitely worth it with fantastic service. We also had lunch once at the Pizzeria and that was good too.
Rooms: As I mentioned, I booked 4 suites for 4 nights on our first stay and then we had another stay at 2 suites for 3 nights with different extended families. The first stay, we had 3 Regency suites & 1 family suite. The second stay, we had 2 Regency suites. The suites are wonderful! Very clean and comfortable. The balcony are awesome. We have experienced corner suites on the 1st floor, 2nd floor, & 3rd floor. The family suite was on 4th floor. Each corner floor has its own benefit. The 3rd floor suite has nice view of the beach, but room is slightly smaller. The 1st floor suite has extra space inside and nice balcony too and still have privacy on the big balcony, but less privacy on the smaller balcony. Having said that, all the suites are in fantastic condition. Absolutely amazing stay for us. And we had to deal with jet lag being from US with 12 hours time zone different. Having a nice place to rest to adjust to the jet lag was great.
Other amenities: The hotel pools are great too. In the main pool section, there are 2 pools + 1 kid pool + 1 jacuzzi. All with easy access to the beach, so you can go to pool to beach back to the pool (after washing off the sands). Next to the fitness/spa area, there is another adult lap pool, which is nice you want a more quiet and serene pool. The fitness center was nice too and we also took tabatha workout class which was nice too. And in the fitness/spa area, there is an awesome hydro therapy, male and female. Have hot tub, cold plunge, sauna and steam room. We loved that. We also get massages, which was fantastic.
Location: I stayed in different areas in Bali and I really enjoyed Sanur area. There are many restaurants just outside hotel.
Overall: Awesome hotel and would highly recommend...

The grounds are beautiful and well-maintained, as are all of the communal guests spaces I encountered. The rooms however, leave a lot to be desired. Premier rooms are spacious but impractically laid out.
My ground floor room faced out onto a garden. The garden is accessible anyone (and there were often people out there), so leaving open the window coverings isn’t possible if you want any privacy. However the only window coverings are full length blackout curtains, so there is zero natural light at all once these are closed. It’s therefore impossible to check one’s make-up. Similar story with outfits, with the nearest mirror the length of the room from the only natural light source.
I appreciated the separate WC and the double vanity in the main bathroom space, but didn’t understand why the only power socket was right next to the shower door. Resting an appliance on the counter here put it at risk of being knocked off if the door was opened.
Add to that the hotel’s hairdryer was terrible. My AirWrap delivered more power and that’s not supposed to be a dryer. The vanity itself didn’t offer much counterspace even once I’d put away the electricals.
Inside the shower, there was a lack of storage for any guest items. There’s a small shelf inset into the wall and I wondered why this hadn’t been made the full length of the cubicle, as this would make far more sense.
Things that should be standard, like a clothes airer, have to be requested from the front desk. To the hotel’s credit, this arrived quickly and was left with us for the duration of our stay, however at every other hotel I stayed at on Bali (none of which were 5*), these were provided as standard to every room. There’s also no luggage rack (or I couldn’t find one) and a only one towel hook – which is a hook, not a drying bar.
I would also expect a 5* hotel to have a steamer, or at least an iron, in the room.
Onto storage for clothing – our wardrobe was really difficult to open, requiring two hands to slide it. Inside there were a very small number of hangers and only one with clips to hang up a skirt. Why such a large rail if you’re not going to provide hangers? I wouldn’t mind so much if there had been more drawers in the room, but there is only one small one each side of the bed. Our clothes therefore had to stay in our suitcases or be left on the furniture. Not great.
The main pools and beach are family friendly. Unfortunately this translates to it being impossible to relax in the nearby areas, as children are constantly splashing, shouting and running around. We opted therefore to spend our sunbathing time at the spa pool, away from the beach, which we were told was adults-only. We found, however, that this rule was not enforced and (unaccompanied) children rocked up here too.
Breakfast was a redeeming feature – they have everything you could think of and the setting is really beautiful. It’s self-serve but with manned stations for eggs, omelettes, etc. Supply was plentiful and service was great. Outside of breakfast I only ordered once from one of the onsite bars/restaurants and service here was a little slow.
The onsite event we attended was incredible, so I commend the hotel’s events function for a marvellous service. The function spaces away are positioned away from rooms and we were moved indoors at 10pm to minimise any disruption to other guests (who were also warned in advance of a large event happening).
Overall really mixed feelings about the place. If the issues with the rooms could be resolved, and a bit more thought given to child-free guests, I think the resort could really live up to...
Read moreDesign masterclass. My second time visiting. My wife loves a high end experience. I love a place with people that make you feel genuinely welcome. This offers both, in spades.
But before I start (and I'm a little tipsy on account of the overwhelmingly friendly Balinese welcome you'll get anywhere on the island, not just at the Hyatt), I'd like to wax lyrical about the actual building.
I love brutalist architecture. As one of the first major western hotels in Bali built in the early 70s I already knew it would be a place I'd find fascinating. I know I'm probably in the minority with this aesthetic, but what Hyatt have managed to do with their immaculate refresh in (iirc) 2018 is create an absolutely top tier hotel experience that caters to so many high end expectations but retains the soul, heart and history of something that should be cherished.
For context the Andaz next door (also owned by Hyatt and you can cross charge - lovely bar and restaurants) is a beautiful, high end ultra 5 star experience hotel and under any other circumstances I'd absolutely pick that hotel first. It's beautiful! Buuut everything about the Hyatt Regency is so immaculate, professional and luxury but also friendly and... well, just downright cool, that just don't think I'll ever be able to!
So... Amazing looking, with wildlife and serenity, but with an ultra-cool 70s vibe. Check. Luxury and top tier staff, but retaining friendly and inclusive service. Check. What else...
We had the club lounge both times we visited. The second time we wondered if we should... Not because it's not excellent... It is... More because we wanted to explore more outside of the the hotel (there's a lot of great places) and it's SO EXCELLENT, that we felt bad not having a bite to eat there or having some of their cocktails every night.
We didn't regret opting for the club lounge the second trip. It's a serene place to grab a coffee, snack or cold drink at any time, but breakfast and "happy hour" which is about 3 hours makes it well wothwhile. Again the staff are so so good, remembering your names and faces, your favourite drinks and... If you're like me, making sure you get a complimentary double every time, but not only that.
Our teeneage daughter has a tree but allergy. They were so careful, each time she came to the lounge, recogniseing her by face and (subtly) asking if she wanted anything preparing. The whole hotel was amazing for this, better than any other in our experience.
I've a had a few whisky's while writing this so I'll cut it short...(This is probably the longest review but I have so much to say). In case it's not obvious, I really love this hotel. There are hotels that boast better pools (this one has great pools by the way) or more restaurants or whatever else... But something really has it's hooks in me about this hotel. It's quite difficult to quantify but it's easily in my top 5...
