The hotel is super convenient for access to and from Sanur Port. The hotel has quite a grand outlook, has a large number of rooms, and spacious common areas including lobby and bar. However, keep in mind that it is a very old Construction and the rooms have a dated feel are in serious need of renovation. Only used this as an overnight layover option for an early morning transit from Sanur for which it served the purpose well. The staff are really nice, humble, and helpful people. Would recommend for a short stay, while it is also good value for the money. Below is the detailed review:
Location: This hotel is located at a 40 minute drive from Airport, 11 minute walk to the Sanur Port, while a 1 hour drive to Pedang Bay port in central Bali. The Sanur beach is also close by. There are a couple of fast food outlets right outside the hotel as well.
Rooms: Rooms are very dated & basic. The bed is very low and old. However there are power outlets for charging on both sides but again they are old school and require an adapter if you are an international traveler. The phone in the room is very old but works. There was a couch in the room and that can practically sleep one adult. The room had a fridge, electric water kettle, and some tea/coffee sachets. There was a safe which was also pretty old. Enough closet space but no doors to it.
Bathroom: The bathroom was also equally dated. The door had lock styles from 1990s. The wash basin, and toilet seat are yellowish white, and so were the towels. The bathroom had a bad stench too. The good part was that toiletries were fixed in the bathroom including bath soap near sink as well as body wash and shampoo in the shower area. The shower curtain had also turned yellow. Water pressure was good though.
Facilities: The swimming pool is more lengthy and curved, not ideal for swimming. The hotel in itself was super clean. The common use bathrooms are very modern and new but very smelly. The hotel overall is super clean. They have luggage storage facility which is extremely useful as we safely stored our luggage with the hotel for 3 days.
Staff: wonderful people, always have a smile, and are ready to help you all the time. We interacted with them at odd hours and found them to be equally helpful...
Read moreWe stayed for 6 nights 2 x people 2 x poolside rooms. Pool was clean and inviting. There were a fair few families swimming and playing. That can be a positive or negative. Pool is open 9 -9, so no happy squeals to wake you early in the morning! My fridge was not on when I arrived, I requested it be turned on as I couldn't locate the socket. It worked more as a freezer than a fridge and so my milk froze solid on the last day! The airconditioner, in both rooms, was noisy. Mine kept resetting to 24C, after I'd set it to 20C. I had to reset it in the night a couple of times having woken up being too hot.Towels were clean, although quite grey, as was the bedding. My kingsize bed was lumpy but as there was only me in it, I was able to find a comfortable spot in the centre.Bottled water was provided daily. Plenty for my needs.Meals at the restaurant were good and cocktail happy hour fabulous! They make excellent pina coladas! It was nice to find a bath in the bathroom, although I didn't use it this time, great if you have small children. Amenities are provided and replenished as required. The doors to the poolside area do not have access back into the room...so, even though I was aware of this, I still locked myself out! As did my travelling companion, twice! I requested a towel rack to hang wet bathers and damp towel outside but they don't have any. It would be a helpful addition to the room. As my room was situated right next to the Al fresco cafe, there was no privacy outside my room. A small screen would be nice. The music stopped at 2015 hrs. The hotel is located about 2 kms to the "main drag"... The closest beach is a public beach in a very busy area, so on this visit, a lot of plastic rubbish was blowing around in the breeze. It took me about 25 mins to walk to the main tourist beach area along the beach front. Metered taxi roadside was between 20,000 and 30,000 rp. Charter taxi 50,000rp to the Besakih Hotel or Wicked Parrot.Staff at the hotel are amazing as always! I have attempted to provide an honest review. Some things evident but don't bother me much! After all, it is...
Read moreThe hotel is at walking distance from Sanur Beach, famous for its sunrise view. There are many local eating places, as well as a KFC close to the hotel. There is also a local mall or shopping centre to the right side of the hotel entrance, where you can buy various knick knacks, including beer. A currency exchange is also right across the road. But it was a huge disappointment to find out on the last day of my stay that it did not exchange Indonesian currency to USD. Most of these outlets only exchange USD to Indonesian Rupiah, but not the other way round. Even the two currency exchange outlets at Bali’s Denpasar International Airport Departure terminal have no fixed working hours, earning curses from passengers who wish to exchange Indonesian rupiah to USD before leaving the country.
Lots of exquisite woodwork as part of the Hotel’s weird architecture. The manner in which the hotel is constructed is very guest unfriendly. Even the chairs/sofas in the lobby area are very uncomfortably placed. Rooms on all floors are constructed in two straight parallel rows- with perhaps 42 rooms to one row. The two lifts are situated at one end. So if you are allotted one of the last rooms, then just the trip to and from the breakfast area will will earn you many steps and by the end of the day you can clock 7000 steps even without stepping out of the hotel or going for a walk on purpose. Staff was very polite and housekeeping was great. But the property is unkempt and rundown. Millipede type insects crawling on the floor of the room. Leaky showers. Forgot about a room with a view. However there is lot of greenery, but many parts are dark, desolate and poorly lit at night. Pool was just okay, but no privacy. Breakfast left much to be desired, or perhaps did not suit my palate. Internet was of very poor quality. Accessing even WhatsApp messages was a pain. Wonder how it is a favourite place for conferences with such poor internet...
