DO NOT EVER STAY HERE!
Our stay at Sampai Jumpa is and was a nightmare. The Owner harassed and threatened us over the phone using various numbers over the span of multiple days.
We had a good first night and were very happy at the hotel when we received a message the next day alleging that we broke a pool float. We immediately walked back to the hotel to talk to the owner where we apologized for any potential mishap from our site. The Owner however told us to pay 40 Euros on the stop for the float. We asked for a receipt since she claimed that she bought it on Amazon but she did not want to give us one.
When we looked up the exact brand and model of the broken float ourselves we saw that is was actually worth 10 Euros, which we then offered to pay her on the spot. Suddenly she wanted 25 Euros instead of the initial 40 Euros since the float was hard to procure and 15 Euros extra were for picking it up from the main island and her valuable time.
We found her behavior very unprofessional and not transparent and declined to pay her random amounts of money for a 10 Euro plastic float without any receipt. This prompted her to threaten us that she would kick us out of the hotel if we did not go to the main island right now to buy a similar float or pay 25 Euros to her, which we again found unprofessional since we are talking about a plastic toy that was worth 10 Euros (which we offered to pay multiple times). She claimed that one night at her hotel cost 25 Euros so if we leave earlier due to her kicking us out, our debt would be paid. Alternatively we had to replace the float on the spot, either via cash or by going to Lombok and buying a similar one, because else her guests would not be able to enjoy the swimming pool without the pool float.
We have never ever encountered a host who expects her guests to replace a mistakenly broken thing the same day, physically within a time span of "do it until tonight, or else..". We declined and told her to stop putting so much time pressure on us to give her money.
Then we told her that we would check out the next morning, one day earlier, as she suggested before during her threat to kick us out. Her reaction to us acting as she suggested, was to cancel our entire booking on booking.com, claiming that we never even checked in at the hotel. At the same time, she lied to us by stating that we cancelled the booking ourselves (even though the screenshots clearly say that the booking was cancelled by the property). We paid her upfront in cash for three nights at the hotel, so she kept the money for one night where we did not even stay.
We told her that her behaviour was unbelievable and that we would go to the tourism police for the pressure and threats she put on us.
We then wished her all the best for her life and that she may hopefully do better one day and blocked her.
We immediately received a threatening voice message over her personal telephone number calling us thieves and stating that she knows where we will go to next, that she knows the owners and told them about us already and that we shoud look out in Gili Air.
Her exact words were even worse namely "hati hati in Gili Air" (be careful in Gili Air) because she reported us to other people who know of our behaviour..
These location based threats and attempts to intimidate us may actually constitute multiple indonesian law violations and led to us blocking off any other attempts at communicating with her.
In the end our last few days of holiday were ruined by a host with no communication skills whatsoever. We were threatened multiple times even going as far as stating that we are not safe in Gili Air and that we should watch out.
We are not stating that the many positive reviews are fake in any way. I am sure that the reviews are indeed true and real. What we experienced and documented here however is also unfortunately true.
So hati-hati in Sampai Jumpa!

When I arrived, the room was dirty, the dirtiest I’ve been to in Indonesia so far after travelling 2 months. Furthermore there was no hot water, which they were in no hurry to solve because i was ‘the only one with the problem’. The owner also came into my room and moved my suitcase and switched off the AC while I was away for 30min, without warning me she will do this. Switching AC, no problem. But moving my stuff and not telling me beforehand - no. No privacy! Then the duvet had no bedsheet. I couldn’t stay longer so I asked if it is possible to get a refund. She said yes, if she rents the room. She then rented out the room and I left. I know she rented it out and guests showed up because it was no longer available on website. She then lied and said I took her key, in order to not give me my refund. Had to block her because she was so aggressive and was obviously never going to give me my refund, despite a written confirmation.
A prt of me knew she was lying about the refund but I really couldnt stay there so I gambled and left, hoping she’d have some humanity and treat me fairly. However, she made up some excuse and decided to keep twice the money by double booking the room and creating a hostile environment for me.
Awful stay, for the one night I could manage. Never had these issues with wonderful Asian hospitality I received everywhere else. I think Lella should reconsider her tone and customer care policies. Because the bad reviews will slowly keep coming and her attitude will ruin her business.
Some other practicalities - location was ok but quite far from most things, other than the beach. The pool could have used a tiny bit more filtration. There is a bike rental next to to the hotel...
Read moreWe booked a villa on booking first for one date, then canceled and the booking confirmed the free cancellation, then booked for the necessary dates, upon arrival, the owner of the villa demanded double payment from us for the dates we canceled, we refused at first, but she said that if you don't pay, she will call the police and offered us additional free breakfasts (which cost, as the hostess said, 150,000 rp per person, breakfast consisted of a scraper and two toasts plus a drink, ordered cappuccino coffee was terrible, it feels like we had powdered milk, after that we didn't go to breakfasts were enough for us Once😭 also the air conditioner in the room worked very badly and we did not change our towels and they were wet all the time, there was also a conversation that if people from the street moved into the villa that twice moved in, she would return the money, as a result, all the villas were settled, the money was not returned ... and we did not even use the fork fork for which we paid, when we wanted to talk to her, but she was not caught, we talked on the phone when they said that you settled in our paid villa, she said that I fed you breakfast 😭 we stayed there for 3 days.
