Our escape trip to Lombok, begin on Gili Terawangan. We stay for a night in Gili Terawang on gili escape bungalow. I suggest you to take cidomo, after arrive from the harbour to get Gili Escape Bungalow. |On that day, we decided to take a walk to get there and that was a baad decision hhaha. The location of Gili escape is in the centre of the north area island and its quite far from the harbour (which is the most crowd area on the island) and near to the sunset point (you can take a bike to the beach in the west side of the island where the 'high' hotel located).||The cidomo itself its the main tansportation on the island although the cost is quit high. If you want to drop by to the hotel/bungalow in the island from the harbour, the cost is 150k while for riding around the island the cost is 300k. ||Gili escape bungalow itself consist only for 5 room : 2 bungalow and 3 room. The original building is the bungalow which have larger space than the room on the new building.|Lucky for us, we stay on the 2nd bungalow and the first impression was.. the room its soo nice, neat and clean.|They have all basic facilities like tv, small refigerator, closet and hanger.|The bed is large and they have open bathroom (only in shower area, so its not 'total open') where you can hear the bird singing while you are staying :).||The staff its soo nice. They give us welcome drink and tell us that we can use bike to riding around the island and its free of charge! (usually bike rent cost is about 25k for an hour or 50k for a day). ||For breakfast, they will give us 2 option of breakfast (i think its the typical of budget hotel in lombok that you have an option for breakfast not buffet) : banana pancakes and scrambbled eggs with toast an both of it its so nice (mean it, we found another hotel that can't serve toast properly).||While to find restaurant for dining, you can ride a bike and found pituq cafe and gili frame restaurant near gili escape bungalow.|My husband and i also found very nice restaurant near the beach to catch the sunset and its only take 5-10 minute to get there (but please make sure that you get a bike with lamp when you decide to go out at night because there are no lamp street so you can't get lost when riding back to bungalow).||You can also found 'small warung' near Gili escape bungalow to buy mineral water if you need it.||Overall, its a beautifull experience in gili terawangan with gili escape bungalow. I would recommend Gili escape bungalow to you who is looking for budget hotel in quite place in gili...
Read moreFirst off, the staff (Ronnie) was the best part about this place 100%. He was incredibly kind, helpful, understanding, accommodating and always around if you needed anything. I hope we get to see him again on our next trip.
The rooms were basic, but also affordable. No hot water, no TV, and the shower water smelled like rotten eggs...but it was nice enough after getting out of the ocean. A/C was nice and cold, and power outlets and WiFi all worked well. Bed was comfortable, although pillows a little flat.
The photos and some prior reviews are inaccurate however: there was no pool, there are not free rental bikes anymore. You should probably just grab a 50k rental bike at harbor to bike yourself here to begin with, then keep it for the duration of your stay as you will need it to get here & back to the main area.
Probably the second best thing about this place, aside from the peaceful & quiet environment and OF COURSE FANTASTIC SERVICE, was the proximity to Warung Biq Seni. It was so tasty, quick, and affordable that we just ate there most meals.
Definitely take the snorkel trip....
Read moreI'm not one to write a review but for this I feel like I have to.||||I don't know where to start, based in the middle of nowhere 15-20 minutes walk away from anything incl restaurants and the beach. The only pro is they do give you bikes.||||Now onto the cons:||Location (as above)||Breakfast - consisted of undercooked almost raw pancakes with tea and coffee but no milk||Rooms - were filthy, lots of dust and lots of dead insects under the bed one the size of my hand. On top of this we had 2 cockroaches (alive) in our room which we kindly asked reception to remove. ||Sheets and towels - all dirty and stained||Rooms - had big gaps between the outdoor shower and the main door into the main room resulting in lots of insects going in. Although used lots of insect repellect got bitten like mad.||Shower - drizzled out, very weak and only had cold water no hot||Housekeeping - no cleaning of the room or making of the bed the next day||Noise - prayers going outaide very loudly at 3-5am night one and 4am-6am night two ||||Cheap for a reason and certainly worth £5 a night more for...
