My wife and I scoured TripAdvisor for good recommendations for family-styled accommodation on the island and frankly, we were unable to find many options. Thankfully, we pick Gili Khayangan Villas. We are seasoned travelers and we value service with utmost importance. As the reviews state, the service at Gili Khayangan was impeccable. Having 2 young children in tow for our post covid celebration trip to the island, made our trip a little complicated, but I dare say that the staff at Gili Khayangan made everything smooth and seamless.||||We were greeted at the jetty by Manager Yady. He arranged for us 2 Cidomos (horse carts) for transport and our bags. After a short but bumpy ride to Gili Khayangan, we were greeted with welcome drinks and cold face towels. The staff tended to the children first and carried them into the reception area and made sure they were comfortable. (oh, Jerry and Emily loved playing with Momo, the friendly resident cat). ||||The 2 bedroom villa came with a private pool which my kids loved. Living area and rooms were clean and spacious. Great for kids to play safely. Daily breakfast was served into the private living area. Note that Gili Khayangan currently does not serve meals other than breakfast at this moment.||||Also, I wana highlight that we were pleasantly surprised that we liked the location of the villa. We were aware that many of the reviews commented that the villa was located far away from the jetty. However, we found it to be a huge plus. Simply because, my family had a very peaceful and undisturbed stay on the island. Gili Khayangan is situated away from the party areas of the island, BUT, very accessible to the sunrise and sunset beaches as they are right smack in the middle of Jln Kelapa (road connecting Sunrise and Sunset beaches on the island).||||Overall, I strongly recommend Gili Khayangan to all families travelling to the island and also travelers craving for peace and tranquility, away from the bustle of the sunrise and sunset beaches. Definitely will return to stay again. To the staff of Gili Khayangan, thank you for taking care of my family during...
Read moreWARNING – Dangerous mold, terrible smell, no support. We’re still stuck in the hotel trying to find a way out!
We checked into Gili Khayangan Hotel today, and after just three hours, we are already looking for another place to stay. Both rooms we were given are full of mold – large, visible mold patches on the walls, and an unbearable musty smell throughout. Instead of solving the problem, the hotel simply uses strong air fresheners to cover it up, which only makes things worse.
This is a serious health risk – not a small issue. We are shocked that such rooms are being rented out at all.
Other issues include: • Cracked, dirty walls • Curtains with stains (possibly moldy) • Mirrors with black spots • Loose or broken door locks • Wi-Fi doesn’t work
We spoke to the hotel manager immediately, but he refused to help, gave us one absurd excuse after another (“It’s just salt”, “That’s normal on the island”, “The room was just cleaned”), and wouldn’t let us speak to anyone else. We are still here, and no one is helping us. We’re now desperately searching for another place to stay.
And what’s even more frustrating: The rooms look nothing like the photos on Booking.com. The pictures are completely misleading – they suggest clean, fresh, well-maintained rooms, but what we got was the exact opposite.
Honestly, we don’t understand how this hotel has received such high ratings. It does not reflect reality at all. Something feels very off here.
Bottom line: This hotel is unhealthy, unsafe, and untrustworthy. If you care about cleanliness, truth in advertising, or your health – stay...
Read moreExtraordinary hotel/villas, super friendly and super helpful staff. I stayed for 3 nights in here with my wife and 2 kids.
My advices : If u want to go this hotel, use the public boat from Bangsal Ferry Terminal cos u will arrive in the shore near the hotel. If u use fast boat, u will arrive at Gili Trawangan Jetty near the Night Market which is too far from the hotel and u will have a hard time to carry all of your luggage. From the Bangsal, u can call local porter to help carry your luggage. Be sure contact the hotel to help u arrange The Cidomo transport (horse cart) to carry ur family n luggage to the hotel. The distance from the shore still quite far away by walking. Rent bikes from the hotel for transportation and dont forget bring small flashlight for your bike. If u don't want to use bike, u can use Cidomo to go to the beach. Local foods are too spicy for my kids, be sure to pack food for them or u can buy instant noodle for the local supermarket. For Indonesian tourist, breakfast you can get it from hotel. For lunch go to warung bu Dewi at Vegetable Market (Pasar Sayur) very recommended. For dinner buy some seafood / Nasi Campur from The Night Market. If you want better choice, go to Scallywags for seafood. If you want go to other Gili's island, be sure to check public boat departure time at the harbor and buy your ticket 1 day earlier.
Too bad no Unicorn for me cos all the Unicorns are...
