My husband and I stayed in the Gaia Villa at Majo Private Villas for two nights during our honeymoon and we were absolutely blown away by our experience! After getting off of the ferry when we first arrived on the island, we were a bit overwhelmed by the busy hustle & bustle near the beaches, but as soon as we arrived at our villa we felt like we were transported to an oasis. The hotel is absolutely beautiful with a wonderful ambiance and aesthetic touches everywhere - you won't want to stop taking photos of every corner! We were IN LOVE with our villa - the pool was the perfect size for two people and there was an amazing outdoor lounge area, and then of course the actual room which was amazing as well. Every inch of our villa was beautiful, including the outdoor shower which was absolutely loved! The villa felt incredibly peaceful, secluded, & romantic and it really felt like our private paradise. The hotel is also in a great location directly in the middle of the island, so you are only about a 15 minute walk either way to the beaches! Additionally, the hotel offers complimentary bikes which were so fun to ride around the island, it was a perfect way to explore :) There is a main area at the hotel complete with a larger pool, beautiful open-air lounge, and bar/restaurant which we enjoyed immensely! During our stay, we enjoyed happy hour cocktails (delicious and so fresh!), dinner one evening (highly recommend the pesto pasta!), and breakfast both mornings - we opted one morning to receive the floating breakfast in our villa's private pool and it was such a treat, we loved it and felt so spoiled! Besides the beauty of the hotel, I can't rave enough about the incredible staff - every single person that you interact with at this hotel will have a smile on their face! Everyone was so helpful, kind, and wonderful - I wish I remembered everyone's names but wanted to give a special shout-out to Tony at the bar as he was especially amazing and we loved talking with him :) Thank you so so so much Majo Villas for giving us such special honeymoon memories, we are...
Read moreLocation : Location is so far and quite hard to find. Don't follow the google maps direction, it will direct you to confusing west side of the villa. If you decided to walk, go to Jl. Villa Klp. (the long path that span horizontally), then go south and you'll find the Majo. But if you have lot of luggage or can't stand the heat and walk, then you can take the horse carriage for around 100k. Also the path is very dark during night and not very smooth.
Service : The hotel provide free bike, but the seat is bit stiff. Once I get trouble with the bike and they send their staff to fix it to my location. You can ask the staff on anything related to gili and they are very friendly.
Room : The room is quite nice, just as it advertised. They also provide mini fridge and hair dryer. One downside is the shower is outdoor and the toiletries are directly exposed to sunlight, making the soap and shampoo feels hot. Also I can hear the prayer from nearby mosque quite clearly during the dawn also which wake me up sometime.
Pool : The depth of the pool is around 160cm I think and they provide additional towel which is quite nice. The pool is quite clean and have good filtering system. The temperature is a bit on cold side, which is perfect for Gili hot weather.
Breakfast : The breakfast is quite good. They provide some variety of toast or indonesian breakfasts accompanied with slices of fruit, juice and coffe. They will deliver the breakfast straight to your room.
Price : Must admit that this place is one of the high tier villa around gili island, and the biggest justification of the price is the pool. If you're not a big fan of private small pool, then you might wanted to reconsider the choice of your accommodation.
Would I recommend it? It depends. If you wanted to spend a lot of time with your loved one, just within the villa, then I think this place is very good. But if you wanted to go out alot and explore gili island, then recommending this location is bit hard. Maybe for best experience you can combine your stay within gili island, and take few days at...
Read moreThe manager Lily welcomed us really well and showed us the villa and it was amazingggggg. Very well and thoughtfully built. However, definitely not a value for money. Few recommendations to hotel/ alerts: Given the price and built I would consider it to be a luxury villa. So would expect a shower cap atleast there. Called the recepetion for it and they said no. They should add all such amenities. Staff was all fine expect that one guy/ waiter who sit at their restaurant. No doubt he was quick in service but he really needs to learn some manners and hospitality and watch his tone. Few incidents - A. We ate twice at the restaurant- first time the guy asked us to pay on the spot even on asking that it can be done at check out, so we went to the villa to take out cash and pay him. Second time no one asked for it and we paid at check out. I dont know what was the problem at first time that he forced us to pay. B.On finding the hair in the food and telling him about it first thing he said is u will still have to pay the money for the food instead of acknowledging it or even discussing it. The guy was really a mood spoiler. Add more options to the menu Bikes especially their seats can be more comfortable and height should be adjustable. (That restaurant guy said it is not adjustable). Made it difficult for us to reach the main market which was away from the stay. Start keeping sugar sachets instead of box which was given to us which was full of ants. Carry enough cash if u want to avoid paying extra on payment through card. I stayed at many hotels in Bali but this was the only one with this policy which we came to know after...
