A Truly Unforgettable Experience – World-Class Hospitality at Hotel Mulia, Senayan I recently had the opportunity to stay at the hotel Mulia in Senayan, Central Jakarta, for a 2-night, 3-day business event — and all I can say is wow. This was my first time staying at a five-star hotel in Jakarta, and the experience has left me completely speechless. From the moment I stepped through the doors, I was met with an atmosphere of elegance, warmth, and precision that I’ve never encountered before. The service, the staff, the rooms, the food, the facilities — every single element was flawless. What truly took my breath away, however, was the harmony and coordination among the staff. Watching the team work together with such professionalism, care, and attention to detail was like watching poetry in motion. To every staff member at Mulia: thank you. Thank you for your unwavering kindness, impeccable service, and for setting the gold standard for what true hospitality should be. This experience has etched itself in my memory as one of the most extraordinary of my life. It was, without a doubt, a once-in-a-lifetime stay, and I can only hope I have the chance to return someday. Until then, I carry this memory with deep appreciation and gratitude. Thank you, Hotel Mulia. You’ve set a new benchmark that will be hard to beat.

The “hardware” of the property was properly decent with a convenient location next to the stadium. The “software” of the staff was painfully lacking. The defining moment came when our neighbors’ alarm clock began ringing endlessly at 4 a.m. After asking the front desk to intervene, it became immediately clear they had no idea how to handle the situation. Their “solution” was to move us. We accepted, but when the bellboy arrived, he was completely lost, without a room key, without direction, and without any understanding of why he was even there. When I called reception again, the person on duty knew nothing about the situation. I repeated the story three times to three different people, each seemingly more confused than the last. The building is lovely, the rooms are clean, but the service operates in a parallel universe where communication, problem-solving, and basic coordination appear optional. Also, no soundproof for connecting rooms.

The warm wood paneling, black marble trims, and gold accents give it a timeless, elegant look. Lighting is soft yet adequate, creating a welcoming and upscale feel. The marble floors in the lobby look pristine, though the carpet in the elevator hall shows some visible wear and discoloration, something the hotel could refresh to match the otherwise high-end setting. The lobby seating arrangement looks cozy with modern couches and accent pillows, making it a pleasant place to wait or relax. The sofa with patterned cushions and the glass coffee table give a homely yet elegant touch. Apples on the table suggest thoughtful touches for business and leisure guests. The bedroom area looks uncluttered, with enough walking space and tasteful decoration. The corridor from the door to the main area shows well-maintained wooden paneling and good lighting, enhancing the sense of arrival into the room.

Top notch service - this was above and beyond my expectation even at 5-star hotel level. They actually checked on me in the room when when I forgot to switch off room privacy mode for close to 24hrs. They were very polite and professional, coming in pair and clearly identified themselves and why the knocking on door. When I encountered an incident in the room, Duty Manager came up within 10min with his team to check and investigate, again, very politely checking if he could enter the room with another colleague to check. I was swiftly given a new room close to mid-night - the staff was ready outside my room when I done packing to move to new room (and I had a little cake, quite yummy, surprise in my new room the next day) 👍🏻👍🏻 Upon checking out, I was surprised the Duty Manager came by and apologised for the incident. Amazing!

Rooms were large and extremely comfortable. I tried cleaning/sanitising my room, but I could not see any dust on my wetwipes on every possible surface. No weird smell nor stains anywhere, bathroom was extremely clean.

Around the hotel grounds, the staff always greeted us politely and I really felt very welcomed in Mulia. It is a grand looking place yet not those super old style kind of elegance. Hotel elevators move fast and I never had to wait for long.

I enjoyed the buffet dinner and the staff were so attentive, by the 2nd and 3rd time I went, they remembered me and which item I have not tried. I love the desserts - coffee/ mango jelly in glass, matcha/ osmanthus/ coconut/ almond jellies. The staff behind counter happily showed me more variety though he had already packed them back fridge as they were closing soon. The grill and stir fry stations were excellent, and so was the lo mai gai (rice wrapped in leaf).

If there is something to improve, it would be good to have more variety across the days for breakfast. To have different types of bread (that can go into toaster) though other pastry options are already plentiful. For cooked food would be good to serve potatoes in different forms each day. Shower toiletries are not from big brands but is good enough for use.

Overall, it was a very safe and comfortable stay and the service...

I only come here for the breakfast buffet since it's always listed in the google map (review) of point more than 4.5 stars and always show on the top 3. Therefore, I choose this one. But, it turned out to be a so-so decision. I really have to say, in term of being a five-star hotel, (i am very much doubt what and why the stars is giving like that and is there a standard protocol of granting stars?), the breakfast buffet here is quite disappointing. I would never imagine a Japanese Sa-Shi-Mi would appear on the menu of breakfast. Not to mention, they serve broken chop-sticks (broken at the edge; which is really crucial for hygiene and cleaning). I mean in such a high-standard hotel and its restaurant, proving the most appropriate (at least for the sake of safety) utensil in the most important and basic thing. I will not further talk about the presentation of the Japanese corner. I am not sure whether it is a generally speaking, but the way they present Japanese food is really not Japanese, instead, they present it in a more convenient but not as good enough to, that Japanese they would think of to present. For the rest of the breakfast menu, I could only say, just hit the standard of 3 or less-star hotel. In terms of food variety and the preparation, and also the presentation, it is far less than I've expected for the previous few days since I arrive at Jakarta. I've been so much expecting this breakfast buffet but it only could feed me but not fulfill my soul's craving for quality and decent breakfast. By the way, please allow me to address the table-service, which is not as the food served, is excellent and wonderful. Very caring and attentive. This must be the savior of experience of my...
