We recently booked the rooftop area at Loewy's Home, Daan Mogot, for a casual lunchtime gathering. While we didn’t stay overnight, we got a pretty good look at what the venue had to offer for daytime events — both the pros and cons.
🌡️ Ambience & Comfort
The rooftop setting looked great at first glance — an open, relaxed space with a small pool nearby, giving off a laid-back vibe. Unfortunately, the weather was extremely hot, and the air conditioning wasn’t strong enough to keep the space cool. We ended up asking for extra ice cubes just to cope with the heat, and thankfully, the staff provided them quickly. We opened the 🚪 at the 🔚 end, it's better than 🔒 closed door with hot 🔥 🥵 ac.
🧑🍳 Food & Service
We also ordered snacks:
🍟 Crispy French fries
🍌 Sweet fried banana fritters (so good!)
🥟 Fried wontons — unfortunately, these were too hard to chew and not enjoyable.
The lunch menu was surprisingly enjoyable. We tried:
Japanese curry rice 🍛
Japanese Hamburg steak
Soto Ayam (Indonesian chicken soup)
Caesar fried chicken salad
The dishes were well-prepared and flavorful — definitely one of the highlights of the visit. Service was generally fast and responsive, although the waitress forgot to bring tissues, which was a bit inconvenient during a hot lunch. On the bright side, they provided several bottles of mineral water, which helped.
🚻 Facilities
One major downside: there was only one shared toilet available for both the small pool area and the rooftop space. This meant we had to queue a few times, which isn’t ideal when hosting a group gathering.
⭐ Overall Impression:
Loewy’s Home is a decent spot for casual daytime events, especially if you enjoy Japanese-fusion meals in an open-air setting. However, be prepared for the heat, and expect basic amenities. The friendly staff and good food made up for some of the discomfort, but better cooling and more restrooms would make a big difference.

Read moreRead moreNice place to escape after long week day. There's bathtub so you could soak nicely to chase away your exhaustion. This place is also active as cafe, in fact when you first come here it didn't look like hotel at all, and you do check-in like buying cup of coffee. 😅 They're quiet close to bus halte and there's big underground park if you bring car. So that's a plus. But the service could be improved very much. They don't put telephone in the room so any request should be sent via WhatsApp. But there's 2 times I request service and none are delivered even though they already confirmed. Until I need to go down myself after 1 hour they confirmed my request. And one of my request was due to electricity in my room suddenly got cut-off after 13.00 (when I book my room for 2 night stay). Also the other thing to note is, there's not much amenities & facilities in the room. Only water jug & 2 cups & showering amenities, even their towel is rather small sized. There's no refrigerator, hair dryer, or other. Oh fortunately their TV is Android, though I'm not sure why I can't connect it...
Nice and clean house... Spacious room and comfy bedding... We can enjoy a nice bathtub in the bathroom... They also have a nice rooftop pool and a fantastic coffee shop :)
However, I would appreciate it if the management improved some points... The wall between each room is not soundproof... I could not sleep until 2 pm because my neighbor was so loud... There is no phone or available contact to catch the staff... I tried to phone after googling the phone number, but nobody answered... It will be good if there is a staff contact and rules for guests to appreciate each other (e.g., after 10 pm no loudy sound in each room)
I booked the room on the long holiday weekend, and I thought it was peaked season... Maybe the preparation of the management was lacking... After 8 pm, the water was run out in our bathroom until the following day... We were so disappointed because the water is crucial...
I want to back, but I hope they clear those issues......
