As an ALL Accor Plus member, I try to review this hotel (Executive Suite):||Location:|Not too close to the Old Town area, but can be reached in 5 minutes on foot, if for the surrounding area there are already many colonial buildings, but if you want to find food or a minimarket you have to walk quite a bit because the surrounding area is not in a tourist area (and be careful).||There is a TJ bus stop near here but not so close, and bit challenging to walk Dua, Kota Station is nearby but better if you are using taxi, walking is walkable but bit challenging (no hassle if you are going thru' Kota Tua)||For those who are active around Kota Tua Glodok, Pluit, even PIK it doesn't seem too far.||I know this hotel is 30 years old but the interior is really new, nice and beautiful. I initially booked a Junior suite room, but the Hotel upgraded two levels of the executive suite which is much larger, more than 110 meters! The Gold member facilities are indeed extraordinary. Even though I could only enter the room at 3 pm, it was no problem.||This room is on the top floor, with a powder room (toilet) in the main room with a sofa, TV, work desk and dressing table, and a dining table. In addition, it has a small kitchen with a dispenser and refrigerator without a kitchenette/cooking utensils, stove, etc. and access to the hallway.||The bedroom is also very spacious, for example if four people sleep, it can still fit plus there is a long bench to relax, other facilities that I think are equivalent to five stars IN THIS TYPE OF ROOM there is an old smart television (not Android), iron, bathrobe, coffee machine, kettle, and bluetooth speaker as well as other standard facilities. A large wardrobe forms like a walk-in closet and a full body mirror.||The main bathroom in the room is no less spacious and nice, with two washbasins, a bathtub, shower and toilet separated by a partition, with complete amenities, soap with an Italian brand, and a bathroom scale. There are also windows so you can look out.||Other facilities that I think are cool are the fitness/gym, complete with equipment and private because you have to use a key, the interior is nice and the AC is okay. There is also a sauna but I didn't try it.||The swimming pool is quite okay, big because it's an old hotel, semi-indoor and outdoor with a pool bar next to it (it's suitable for relaxing while waiting for the kids to swim). And there is a garden in the middle of the hotel which I think is suitable for bringing the family here.||The breakfast choices are very good, western and Indonesian menus are available, from noodle soup, pastries, waffles, fried rice, buffet side dishes, some porridge, there are also many choices of drinks. The restaurant is quite spacious so it's comfortable. The taste is just so-so, maybe because I'm tired of eating at the hotel.||For member benefits: there is a welcome drink that can be exchanged at the bar (although the bar is small) but the choices are quite a lot, and you can get a small cake compliment but okay, a welcome greeting is given when we check in.|| And this hotel, although crowded, can provide a fairly late check out as long as the room is available, I feel this hotel provides the best treat for members with a fairly high tier. ||If you want to go around, there are also electric bikes for rent. And even if you pay in full, the price is still around 3 million for a room equivalent to a president suite in another hotel, I think this is the best deal. ||The facilities are equivalent to a premium hotel, even if it were to rebranding to Grand Mercure, it would still be...
Read moreThis is a three star hotel masquerading as a four star. The beds are comfortable in large, well-appointed rooms with small balconies. We received a friendly welcome on our midnight arrival, having flown from the UK. There are, however, a number of problems that a four star hotel simply would not allow if it was managed correctly.
The first issue was a leaking shower. Within 30 seconds the bathroom floor had flooded with the water running the wrong way for it to drain. Our floor and bath-mat stayed soaking throughout our stay. We mentioned this to reception on the first day but nothing was done about it, not even an apology to say they weren't able to fix it.
My wife ordered a Caeser Salad with room service, which she had to send back. Twice. I've pictured version two of what the hotel kitchen thinks is a Caeser Salad, including a processed cheese slice. Version one had ham (ham?), chicken (yes, really), and a distinct lack of parmesan. What four star hotel serves a salad with processed cheese slices? The third effort at least had a sprinkling of parmesan but it was pretty poor with no croutons. If the kitchen does not know how to make a Caeser Salad, take it off the menu or call it 'Three Star Salad Special With Meat and Plastic Cheese'.
Talking of room service, you are obliged to pay for it when it is delivered. We're jetlagged, hungry and just want to eat before going to bed. Making you pay as your food gets cold while trying to avoid personal questions from the waiter is only irritating. It is certainly not what I'd expect from four star.
Finally my wife cancelled her massage after a rude encounter with the staff in the spa and a lack of towels and sheets, a substandard massage table and loud music. After our long flight it was the one thing she was looking forward to, so she was pretty disappointed.
Three stars for good location, comfortable rooms minus the lake in the bathroom, and some friendly staff, but no way is this four star. We've stayed in better three star Indonesian hotels, including much cheaper hotels in central Jakarta. As usual this boils down to poor communication between ground staff and management, and lack of training of tending...
Read moreWe had our second wedding reception here last week.
The Venue is great, as an architect I love that they preserved the Art Deco Style upon renovation. The ballroom design looks prestigious, classy and elegant so we don't really need much of a decoration. The food is also great, I personally like the Chef's service and love the various menu for breakfast here.
But, in terms of the service.. Unfortunately, the service here gave us an unpleasant experience. They are not so professional, the PIC who close the deal for our wedding reception never showed up anymore after we signed the contract. It's quite difficult to reach her everytime we had an issue and always slow response. A month before our wedding, she suddenly assigned someone else to take charge of our wedding preparation without formally consulting or informing us. The new PIC is quite slow, didn't really grasp the details of our contracts, and was giving the wrong menu during test food. It supposed to be Fish with Lemon Sauce but during the test food, the Chef is serving us Fish in Sweet and Sour Sauce. Again, out of nowhere and without informing us.
Also, we booked 6 rooms for our family to stay for two nights. We didn't even ask for an early check-in but sadly they didn't prepare the rooms at all. Our family has to wait for 1.5 hours to finally get their room ready. It is really unprofessional, we expect much better service since Mercure Batavia is a 4-stars hotel and part of Accor Group where we are a member.
Lastly, we agreed that some food from the stall will be separated for the bride and groom and to be sent to our suite after the party. Even for this easiest part, they failed to do what we had discussed and agreed on during the final technical meeting. I have no words left for the service of this hotel. We are quite speechless of how bad the service is. Still.. we appreciate the architecture, the suite is amazing and the food is great.
PS: the original PIC blocked my Whatsapp after I send her my complaints regarding the service and personally her service towards the client. Indeed very...
