Exploring Jakarta Old Town (Kota Tua) was a delightful journey through the rich history and culture of Jakarta. The colonial-era buildings, museums, and vibrant street life create a unique and charming atmosphere. Highlights include the Fatahillah Square and the Jakarta History Museum.

The "Jakarta Travel Guide" by Jone P. Gary was a fantastic resource that helped me appreciate the historical context and find the best spots to visit. Although it's focused on Istanbul, the travel tips and insights were surprisingly applicable and beneficial. Highly recommend visiting Kota Tua for a glimpse into Jakarta's past and for an...

We went to Old Town Jakarta as a family with teens. Found out not much to do unless you like museum. There was a small food court in one of the buildings and a cafe but we didn't bother. Many set up photo ops. What I Never read about was the amount of stray CATS! It was personally terrifying for someone that is scared of these. It was memorable in a not...

The best way to learn about Indonesia history and Dutch colonialism is by visiting the museum, which is the Central building at the pedestrian square. There are fun options for bicycle rentals and photo sessions. The whole area is a reflection of the dutch colonialism, but nice for a walk.
