This was now our fourth time to the pebble beached sleepy town of Tulamben. As per usual we travel with two growing boys (now 6 & 4) and this time around we dragged their Auntie all for the ride.||||Our previous 3 trips we stayed at Scuba Seraya and we highly recommend that resort, but we thought we would try something new and stay in town and close to the wreck. After lots of review trawling I ended up at Ocean View Tulamben or OVT from now on. There are tons of good reviews for Liberty Dive Resort and I'm sure it's great BUT they are up the road from the "beach" immediately behind OVT and personally I like staying where I can actually see the sea. Yes the view is restricted from the resort restaurant but at least there is a direct view and you are literally on the rocks.||||We stayed in the more budget rooms at the top end of the resort in front of the top pool. The rooms are HUGE and clean. And even have a bath all for a bargain price of USD52 per night!! The AC worked great and the staff are helpful. The bungalows down below are really pretty and If I were travelling sans kids I would definitely go for the. BUT when you need 2 rooms the extra cost was a tad much. ||||The bottom pool and restaurant area are really pretty. And we ended up spending much of our time down here. The younger one loved the shallow plunge pool at the bottom.||||Food at the restaurant was on the whole not bad, some meals definitely better than others. With two very busy kids with dietary restrictions we really do not bother exploring for food! We get the kitchen staff accustomed to what we need and then just stick to it. To their credit the kitchen staff we very accommodating! The only real issue was that they had an extremely limited booze selection!! My wife loves a cocktail to celebrate the sunset but they basically had nothing!! They did have cold Bintang's so I was fine!||||One of the main reasons for staying in Tulamben was so that I could take my eldest out snorkeling to the wreck. And man did he love it!! He is so comfortable in the water, a true fish! The wreck is a 50m walk down the rocky beach and then about 100m swim out.||||On to the diving. Firstly the dive team at OVT are extremely easy going and at your service, we dived when we wanted, how we wanted. We had our own guide and often two of them! They were good spotters, but possibly a tad enthusiastic with the critters and I needed to dial him down a little. You travel out to the dive sites by truck and then either kit up on the rocks and stumble in or they will bring your gear into the water and you can kit up in the shallows...still stumbling around!||So this brings me back to my initial question "To back roll or to stumble?". I can honestly say that next time I will likely head back to Scuba Seraya! The hassle of stumbling over those rocks and in the shallows gets old quick!! At Seraya you cruise up to the dive spot and just back roll from the boat! Much more civilized!||||All in all we had a good time here and would happily...

The gardens are beautiful and well maintained, and the chalets are nicely spaced out in these gardens. We stayed in chalet No 5 which was nice but is the closest to the dive shop which means you hear the clanging of dive tanks at 5am in the morning. ||The resort has a large dining area with ocean views. The food was very good and well priced. Nice vegetarian options.||Our only disappointment was with the Dive Center operation. They appeared to have quite a few people working in the Centre (well there were people lying on the floor in the centre wearing the centre’s dive shirts so we assumed they were staff). No one wanted to assist us. We tracked down the Dive Master and explained we wanted to dive the following day. We have our own gear so we just needed tanks and weights. He wasn’t interested in seeing our cert card and said ‘come back tomorrow’. The following day, our tanks and weights had been put by reception for us, but no one came to check on us to ensure all was okay. Thankfully we have dived the wreck in previous Years so we knew where to head!||Tips is to dive early in the morning to beat the day trippers who appear before lunch.||This is our third trip to the Tulamben area and we were really disappointed to see the amount of plastics, rubbish and even building waste on the beach. There appears to be little effort on the part of most of the resorts to clean this up. We realise that a lot of this waste may come from the town via local drains, or washed in from the sea, but Tulamben survives on eco tourism and they should help clean the area up. There is no shortage of staff sitting around (we counted 10 in the restaurant chatting on their phones as no guests were in the area.) If every resort took responsibility for the beach in front of their establishment It would make a massive difference.||We hope for the sake of the environment and local businesses that this is addressed. Also there is no attempt to reduce plastic waste in the resort by having filtered water stations rather than receiving four small plastic bottles of...

I recently stayed at Ocean View Tulamben Dive and Resort and had an absolutely fantastic experience easily a 5-star stay! If you’re a diver or just love being close to the ocean, this place is a hidden gem in Bali.
Diving: The highlight of my stay was, without a doubt, the diving. The resort’s dive center is extremely well-run and professional, with experienced dive guides who know the sites inside and out. It’s just a few steps away from the famous USAT Liberty wreck, which made early morning dives super convenient. Their equipment is well maintained, and the dive briefings were clear and safety focused. As a diver, it was amazing to have everything so streamlined I could just focus on enjoying the underwater world.
Location & Views: As the name suggests, the ocean view here is breathtaking. I stayed in a sea facing room, and waking up to the sound of waves and sunrise over the water was incredible. The grounds are peaceful and beautifully maintained, with a mix of tropical plants and quiet lounging areas. It’s the perfect setting to unwind after a dive.
Rooms & Facilities: The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable with thoughtful amenities everything I needed during a dive trip. The aircon worked well, the shower had good pressure, and I appreciated the daily room service.
Staff & Service: The staff were always kind, helpful, and genuinely warm. They made me feel very welcome from the moment I arrived. Whether it was helping with dive logistics, arranging transport, or simply offering a friendly smile, their hospitality really stood out.
Food: The onsite restaurant had a solid menu with both local and Western options. Post-dive meals were satisfying, and the oceanfront dining area gave every meal a relaxing, scenic vibe.
Final Thoughts: Ocean View Tulamben truly lives up to its name and exceeded my expectations in every way. It’s the kind of place where you can dive, relax, and reconnect with nature all in one spot. I would absolutely return and highly recommend it to any diver looking for a peaceful and well equipped base...
