We’ve been coming to Tulamben for diving and holiday relaxation for many years now and have always stayed and dived with TWD. We’re so happy to be back here post-covid and they are open and back to normal business with their long-time loyal staff ready to look after guests.||||They have had some issues with their email and website so best to contact Wayan direct on Wayanambek@gmail.com or +62 813 3871 1389.||||There are currently a lot of divers in Tulamben but we have had excellent individual service and TWD have managed to time our dives to avoid the crowds at each dive site. The wreck of the Liberty is very busy but there are many other great dive sites close-by. Our dive guide Kadek still has the best eye for spotting critters and it is a pleasure to dive with him, he is safety conscious but very relaxed in the water.||||The accommodation at Tulamben Wreck Divers is very clean and nice and the resort gardens and pools are looking beautiful. They staff are working hard to get all the room maintenance up to scratch but there’s not much to find fault with. We always stay in the penthouse rooms at the far end; they have separate living and bedroom areas and a large bathroom with spa bath, as well as an outdoor balcony area with table and chairs and a nice view. These also have newer and larger TVs hung on the wall, no TV channels but there is a DVD player and we bring movies on a USB. All rooms have good air-conditioning and a fridge and ceiling fans. The beds are firm but comfortable and most rooms have a King-size bed and a single bed as well. They will freshen up the rooms every day and sheets and towels are changed every few days. Soap is provided but everything else you will need to bring or buy.||||There is a shop across the road where you can buy water and anything else you need and now there is a small Indomaret supermarket about 300m north of TWD, about a 3 minute walk. We always ask our driver to stop at a money changer before driving up to Tulamben. I’m not sure if there are any ATMs in town now.||||We were concerned that some of the food places would have closed but it’s not a problem; there is quite a choice of places to eat and all good value with tasty food. A couple of old favourites are no longer open but new ones have started up and we’ve tried most of them during our week here and haven’t had a bad meal yet.||||Breakfast is included at TWD and it’s fairly basic but always nice and served with a smile. The restaurant here is currently not open for lunch or dinner. The girls are happy to do laundry as needed for a small charge and the massage ladies come in the afternoon, a lovely indulgence for an hour at a very good price.||||We feel very lucky to be back in Tulamben and highly recommend Tulamben Wreck Divers as the best place to...
Read moreStayed at Tulamben Wreck Divers Hotel as part of a package for my 2 days 1 night diving experience. As there was a night dive, it made practical sense to just stay over. Overall 3 dives were done at USAT Liberty, with 2 more dives at the Amed side. Note that getting here from Denpasar area is about a 2 hour and 30 mins ride.
Accommodation 3/5 - Rooms are ultimately functional, it is actually surprisingly large (i was given a double and single bed for 1 pax) and there is functional air-conditioning. Shower was slightly ordinary but there is hot water and toilet bowl seat is actually pretty new. It is good to stay for the purpose of diving but probably nothing more then 2 nights. Wifi works pretty fairly.
Location 4/5 - Location is definitely prime for the purpose of diving. It is also in the middle of the walkable area for all the other cafes and hotels serving the Tulamben stretch (note though that it is not really that many anyway). Note that most shops and hotel linked cafes close pretty early so there is nothing much to do besides sleep early. Even the restaurant itself in the "hotel" closes early.
Service 2/5 - Not much service to talk about and service staff are not that conversant in english. There is security at the front so overall at least you can say it is safe. Its just entirely functional. Note that there is no given shampoo/conditioner/toothbrush either, but they did provide soap.
Atmosphere 3/5 - Being in the diving area, would say it serves it's purpose and is nice and quiet. I guess in theory if you wanted to, you could even walk down to the USAT wreck side and enjoy the night breeze.
Price 3/5 - Seems to be priced about $36 according to google (pardon me as i paid for it as part of the dive package so i do not know exact cost for my stay). For size of room, cleanliness and for purpose, it is pretty fair but if you have 3 people staying, then it will start to be a bit crowded (but you could always relax outside of the room instead)
Overall, satisfactory place to stay and for the price, it is what you get. This won't be your main draw to the Tulamben...
Read moreI did my OW recently at TWD. The staff were communicative and helpful with info and logistical support in getting to Tulamben, and a pleasure to dive with. Wayan, the manager, helped to coordinate my arrival and course, and also provided a lot of info about what to expect and itinerary. He also arranged for a driver on either end of our trip as part of our package.
Eric was my instructor, and was a fun and knowledgeable teacher throughout my stay. I also dove with Jaya, who continued to add to our knowledge base as a guide in our fun dives after we completed the course. It was a really valuable experience to have dives with multiple instructors/guides during our time to gain more experience as divers. You should definitely allow time for post course recreational dives! The price was great, too.
The resort was comfortable and our room exceeded our expectations. The other people we met here have been coming for years because they love it so much, and we met groups of dive instructors who come here to dive on their own recreationally when they aren’t working.
They were great at choosing and recommending sites, and can also arrange dives further afield. The pool area was a nice place to relax, and the balcony was a good place for quiet time between dives. Breakfast was easy, fast, and adequate. There are a few restaurants nearby, easy to get to and reasonably priced for other meals.
The price is good for what you get, and particularly good for those newly addicted to scuba diving who want to keep the costs down while also having safe and exciting dives.
I highly recommend heading out to Kubu Reef and Dropoff if you are choosing...
