The rooms are very nice, we booked the King villa with court yard view, the courtyard is extremely small, and the day bed is very dark and looks like a haven for mosquitoes, we had mosquito coils burning which kept them out of the bathroom area, the Barhroom area was very nice, even has a deep trough for washing dive equipment. The bed room is big enough, not alot of room for luggage but managed, it had a nice mosquito net over the bed, a TV with poor reception lol (typical Bali), mini bar and safe, all very standard. The breakfast was not the best but sufficient with white bread and some simple pastries, eggs cooked to your liking and some hot food, perculated coffe was very average and typical of a low grade hotel (which this is not), the Baritlsta style coffee isn't good, it is extremely week. Dinner was good, we had a pizza one night which was good, shop bought base with the toppings, the Indonesian dishes were our favorite. The staff a very friendly and helpful, the dive center is very accommodating and I even decided to upgrade my licence to Padi Advanced open water divers, I was told to go pay and confirm the Advanced open water diver course at the reception, sadly the reception struggled to understand what I wanted, they ended up calling the dive center and asking them what I wanted to do, I managed to pay the course fee and they took my details but they later asked for all my details again for the Elearning registration. There is Free Filtered drinking wayer stations placed well through out the resort gardens which is fantastic. The pool, OMG it was a cold dip, the pool remains mainly in shade this time of the year (Early August) but loved the refreshing dip and it had a nice shallow and deeper section with a nice deck area surrounding the pool for Lounging in the sun or shade. I would recommend staying here, I probably wouldn't pre pay for the breakfast next time and just pay IF I have breakfast there, good coffee is my thing and couldnt get it here sadly, so im down the road, while I write this, eating breakfast at Slice&Brew and not using my pre-paid breakfast...
Read moreResort We first visited here 20 years ago. April 2022, we visited it again and found it as beautiful as we remember it to be.
The garden is beautifully curated and well maintained. The compound is peaceful, calm and feels really nice. The staff at the resort are warm, friendly & helpful and we felt welcomed. The rooms are well-maintained, clean and nicely decorated. It doesn’t show much at all of wear and tear nor is it tired-looking (it's more than 20 years old!). We stayed at the courtyard room with garden view. The garden within in the courtyard room is equally beautiful and well-maintained, we had visits from birds singing beautiful tunes and colourful dragonflies stopping by on branches. Wifi at the resort is good. There's even a TV which we didn't turn on at all. We ate most of the items on the menu and they were all good, though prices are higher than other eateries outside of the resort.
Dive Centre within the Resort We were a group of 6 and were assisted by Teja (dive guide/manager), Nyoman (diveguide) & Gede (dive centre assistant). All three of them are warm & friendly, helpful and attentive. They took very good care of us. Amongst us there were 2 newer divers, both Teja & Nyoman were very patient and helpful to the new divers. They were also careful when handling our dive equipment & cameras. On one dive, as we still had ample air, Teja & Nyoman did not rush us out of the water when we reach 60min dive time and we dove another 20mins in the shallow!
The dive centre is kept neat & tidy, clean and organised. There are different rinsing tanks for different equipment and a well-organised space for drying & storing of dive equipment.
Why not 5 stars? With the amount to gadgets we use these days, we could do with more power sockets...
Read moreBottom line: if it's not high season, DO NOT book in advance. You can save a lot of money with the "last minute discount" (20%) they give to late walk-ins.
The experience, in itself, was great. If I were to review just the diving experience during a 4 days live-aboard that would have been a 4 or 5 stars, no question about that.
But then, during the trip, I realize that having a 10% discount (5% cause you're paying in full in advance and another b5% because your a professional from the industry) is not the best strategy.
Basically, we pay in advance so they can secure the boat and run their operations and then they fill the boat giving 20% discount to late minute walk-in.
And I understand that. But then it should be followed by a decent unhappy customer service.
So when you point out to management the bitter taste that goes with the realization you're paying 80€ more than the (friendly) guy seating next to you, what you get is a fantastic additional 10% off on the next booking you could do with them.
To summarize, "sorry we screwed you over 80€, here is a nice 8€ discount on a future dive to make you feel better". That's very poor customer service. And that's how you go from a potential very good rating to a poor one. And I'm gonna dive again in the next couple of days, but with another company...
Again, the diving were great, the boat was good, food too, equipment is new and solid.
But if you know you're not coming during high season, DO NOT book in advance. Walk in a day or two before the trip you want to board, and wait for the 20% discount....
