Warung Mina Candidasa — Restaurant in Kecamatan Manggis

Truly our life savior against hunger!

We traveled to this area in one evening in the weekend during the pandemic and as we drove from Taman Ujung, Karangasem, in the middle of the heavy rain, we were so tired and super hungry. Many restaurants are either permanently closed due to the pandemic or simply close early.

Then along the way, we found this restaurant and really enjoyed the food. The place is not so big but clean and comfortable. The food they have also covers a lot of varieties, including Indonesian traditional food, especially bellies, as well as western food such as pizza, spaghetti, fried chicken and more.

We ordered fried rice, fried Gurame or carp fish, fish soup, cap cay or sautéed vegetables , lumpia or veggie roll, and pizza plus spaghetti for my kids. The food are delicious and it comes fast. The staff is really friendly as well.

It has adequate parking lot and it is located by the street. So you won’t miss it. The entrance is disability friendly, as well as the chair and tables. The price is very friendly as well. I wish they have more soups...

Much like everyone else’s and experience, there are not many choices to eat around these parts in terms of warungs as the majority are closed. This was one of the first places that we found to be quite solid on the fact that there is ample seating and it is outdoor which brings in a nice breeze.

The menu is pretty solid with a variety of Indonesian and western dishes so there is a lot to choose from.

As my partner and I were craving chicken we both ended up ordering the Paket Ayam Goreng which is fried chicken leg with rice and some side veggies for 55k. The chicken was fried nicely where the skin was crispy and the meat was tender.

It’s a pretty average experience where you know the food will be good and it is nothing out of the ordinary.

The staff overall was pretty nice and attentive and the kitchen was quite quick with pushing out our food. She even showed us the side veggies that it came with which was very nice of the chef.

The dishes are really good and the staff is very friendly. Of course, it can be a bit noisy, but the restaurant (like most of the ones in town) is located next to the main road, so else what do you expect? The hot chicken dishes as „Paket“ (with vegetables and rice) is so tasty, that I ordered the same one right away, after finishing my first portion ;) As the dishes are made fresh, you can calculate a waiting time of 15-20 minutes, which is normal, I guess. But I have to add, that we were the second last couple in the restaurant, as we ate late...
