Once we reached this place through the cracky narrow roads we entered a little oasis with a beautiful view over their pool & the surrounding 5-6 little villas. The staff welcomed us friendly but they forgot to prepare the extra bed that was agreed on and I had to prove it with screenshots from the WhatsApp communication that were first sent to “the management”. Odd, but ok. While waiting I saw a guest covered only with towel coming to the front desk asking why their shower doesn’t have water anymore. Well, I thought: it’s Bali, these things happen here. After waiting outside on a hot sunny day, we could finally enter our villa & we were happy to finally take shower at our villa…but when it was my turn & I was entirely covered with soap & shampoo…the water stopped…and only covered with a towel I had to go to the front desk & ask them to fix this. Something that happened another two times until we figured that the water is not enough for a family with a toddler & a baby. Obviously the owner tries to safe water or smth as this could always be fixed quickly by the staff.
After dawn we entered the beautiful pool at moonlight but couldn’t help noticing that the tree branches hanging over imthe pool filled it with soft-nut alike seeds. Hundreds of them. Half of them swimming on top, the other half half to our feet. But hey: doesn’t harm & a bit like swimming in a lake! After a few minutes our 5 year old son picked a little thorny branch from the water & gave it to our 1 year old daughter to play with before I noticed. I then checked: there are a bunch of thorny bushes reaching the pool. Not ideal plantation, but still all fine for us. Luckily nothing bad happened…until our last day: the resort has two young cats that are all the time playing in the lobby & around the pool. With our two little kids we asked the staff & they told us they belong to them & we don’t need to worry. Nevertheless one of these cats attacked our 5 year old son who was lying in the hammock at the lobby: Out of nowhere the cat jumped up and bit my son in the lip and he was heavily bleeding. We come from a country without rabies, hence have no vaccine protection. So we rushed to the hospital & learned that most dangerous are animal bites into eyes, nose and lips/mouth and can be life threatening when reaching the central nerval system. We needed to immediately give our son rabies vaccine shots and closely monitor his condition.
The reaction from the management (a belgium owner): “don’t worry, nothing will happen!” We worried like crazy! And when asking them to cover the hospital & medical costs the reaction was: “I have to talk to our lawyers first”. Well, according to their lawyer it doesn’t matter it is their cat on their property attacking a guest…they don’t need to pay anything. And they don’t have an insurance covering that either.
Within the next 10 days when we were traveling Bali we had to go to 4 different hospitals to check on our son’s health condition and having his rabies vaccine shots. We spent a lot of holiday time in taxis and hospitals instead of the expensive resorts we payed for. This tremendously affected the quality of our whole Bali trip…but instead of offering us any kind of compensation we had to bargain with the owner and ended up that they payed only half of the medical costs and the other half we had to pay ourselves.
Karma won’t forget how you treat your guests! Have...
Read moreWe picked Green Escape at the end of our Bali trip due to the rave reviews online. However it very much seems we were catfished and I honestly am very confused. |We spent 3 nights here and from 10pm on night one we were debating whether we up sticks and leave and pay for other accomodation. Due to the fact we had pre paid (and this was actually the most expensive of all the accomodation over our two week holiday) we decided to stick it out. |Before you want to book you need to consider the below. ||The pictures look pretty, the gardens are nice. But that is about it for pros.||Cons|1) this was the loudest place we have ever stayed, and did not sleep for three nights. You could hear everything due to the thin wooden walls. The heat pump leaking, the fridge rattling, bugs and insects outside, cars, scooters, people, birds in the thatched ceiling, you name it you hear it|2) the “rooms” are very basic with the building standard. We sat in bed and could see holes in the roof, large gaps under the doors etc. so we had to stuff a pillow at each door and you have to sleep under a mosquito net due to the ability for bugs to enter through all the nooks and crannies|3) the breakfast was easily the worst we had in Bali, didn’t even bother utilising it the last morning and we went into town and went to nourish. I had “fresh” orange juice one day and it looked and tasted like it had been watered down|4) the shower hardly works. Literally hardly works. The hot water didn’t work and I have long hair and could barely wash my hair so actually went to a hair dressers to get it washed|5) the staff were pleasant but smoking beside the breakfast isn’t really a good look is it? Again the least friendly staff of all the places we had stayed in by a country mile.||The whole experience was so below what we had anticipated, especially due to the good reviews online. We wish we booked...
