I have had two bad experiences at Cashew Tree. The first time, I ordered the Pittaya bowl, the mango was bitter and the kiwi fruit was rock hard. I tried eating as much as I could but I just couldn’t eat it, it was absolutely inedible. I told the waiter this and she just argued that this variety of kiwi is like that in Bali 😂. I showed her how hard it was by pressing my spoon into it until it snapped in half. She didn’t want to refund me, which is whatever. I didn’t want a refund I just wanted her to acknowledge the problem with the food. Then she asked me if i want to pay for another item off the menu. Nah I’m going bye.

And today was the last straw, I gave them another chance and went back in to get some food on my own. I stood around for a bit and waved down a waiter, she put me in a sharing table and gave me a menu and I was ready to order within a minute or two. A waiter sat down a group of 3 Americans next to me. I asked the waiter if I could order because I had been waiting a while at this point, she put her hand up at me and said “just wait a moment”. She then proceeded to walk to the other side of the table and started taking the order of the Americans. I understand it could have been a mistake but it was the same waiter who told me to wait and she knew that we were sharing the table. I just got up and left to Satu. There is definitely a bit of an attitude thing going on at cashew tree and the food quality has definitely dropped off over the years ive been going. I’m not ever going back. And I get the Indo crew are probably working long hours to save money and doing nights and days etc. The problem lies within the owners, this business obviously generates a good return and they’ve taken there foot off the peddle a bit and quality control has lacked. If someone has an issue with some food and service, a little bit of acknowledgement goes a long way and I wouldn’t have written this review. But here I am acting like a Daren ! Haha

Good luck with your future cashew tree, I won’t be...

I don’t often leave reviews but I hope this can leave some constructive feedback for the management as it used to be way better.

Service is well below par. Rude staff, busy on the phone when trying to take orders, completely under trained and a bad attitude.

Playground is old and run down, looking rough. Easy and cheap to fix up.

Ambience and atmosphere for dinner is off with a strange layout leaving plenty of empty space but no tables while the limited tables are full.

Tried for breakfast 2 weeks ago and staff confused the order then chased us down the street accusing us for stealing because they forgot to add a coffee on the bill. Food and drinks were okay but not mind blowing.

Tried again tonight to have dinner but was full (even though plenty of space) so we went somewhere else.

Went back after having dinner to get ice cream and the girl was on her phone for 5 minutes with no one else at the desk yelling random things to other coworkers. Finally got around to asking us what we wanted and as I mentioned ice cream she started messaging again and completely ignored me then with a bad attitude finally came back to asking what I wanted again. Finally I said 2 scoops of different flavours. Told me it wasn’t possible. Can do 2 of the same flavour scoops in one cup but can’t do 2 different scoops in the same cup. Makes no sense and she was angry when we asked what the reason was. 1/10 experience.

Typical over rated venue along with many others riding this upward “chaotic” tourist trend in Uluwatu with a lack of staff training and no ability for these businesses...

I encountered a very rude service by one of the servers named "Jema" today. I approached the waitresses to take my order and they asked Jema to serve me. I wanted something small but was told the lunch menu was not ready until 12pm so I ordered something quickly from the breakfast menu. She took my order and within 10 seconds (we were still with each other) I wanted to change to another order, she told me that she cannot change since she already entered in the system. I asked her why not since the kitchen has not prepared the food and she said she just couldn't change so I told her that I wanted to cancel it, I don't want the food. She gave me a stern look with disrespectful attitude and walked away.

The worst is that my family was sitting next to the cashier counter, she then walked over to complain about me to her other 3 colleagues. Her voice was so loud that my family and I could hear her complaining about me disrespectfully with constant glimpse from her colleagues. My family and I instantly felt being treated so rude by her in particular.

My husband wanted to speak to the store manager but they don't bother since the assistant manager was around and I saw him walking around but he did not bother to come to our table.

I'd advise to avoid the server Jema if you want to enjoy your time at the restaurant or avoid this place at all if you do not wish to be treated disrespectfully.

Ps: Our original server "Suti" (pregnant 7 months) was...

Had a lovely experience at the cashew tree while being away in Uluwatu! The place is so nicely decorated and has an aesthetically pleasing view. We came here for a couple drinks to start with which were lovely. However, we were not approached once by the staff and had to keep trying to get their attention or going up to find staff when wanting to order more drinks (which made us feel abit like an inconvenience). One waitress in particular appeared ‘annoyed’ when we asked if we could order our first drink after waiting for 15 minutes to order. We later ordered food which again, we had to find a waitress to take our order. I had the chicken schnitzel which was gorgeous and could not fault! However it came 10 minutes before my partners meal which meant we ate at different times from each other. My partner ordered the beef curry which was a decent sized portion, but unfortunately was very bland. The beef was nicely cooked though. Overall, my food order was tasty and I would eat here again. The drinks were also nice. Just going forward it would be a better experience if the staff were a bit more forthcoming to take orders.

I thought it was not too bad, just be aware that it’s a “hipster” brunch place where people go to chill so you’ll get what you get. Personally, compared to what I get where I come from, I found the fare value for money enough. You just have to be selective about what you get. Go for their Mediterranean food and “healthy” stuff like their smoothies, bowls etc. MEDITERRANEAN PLATTER: The best thing we had there. The chips and the falafel were fried very well and the platter as a whole hits all the right spots/taste profiles. DETOX JUICE: the ginger taste is strong! But decent and refreshing. TEMPEH SUMMER ROLLS: Eh. It’s alright. It tastes like a summer roll with a tempeh in it. I don’t really know how to elaborate beyond that. KOREAN CHICKEN: It’s basically just sweet and sour chicken. And the kimchi is…not really kimchi. It’s not *bad*, it’s just not Korean chicken. SERVICE: Kind of slow, but like I said, it’s a place where people come to chill after their fitness club. You get what you get.

I ordered butter chicken with naan bread. The rice and the sauce itself was allright, but the bread was not really naan bread. It was like fried old bread and was not even shaped like a bread, it was like shredded and very oily. I asked the staff If I could get some white bread instead because I like to dip some bread to butter chicken but all they had was toast bread for me, I wasnt happy with that and just ate my rice and sauce. Im writing this review because of the attitude I got from the staff. The attitude I got after very friendly ”complaint” was crazy. None of the workers checked on me anymore, I had to ask for the check many times because they didnt bring it to me… after paying, they didnt say thank you or anything. Just mute. Basically they stopped serving me. When we stood up and left, I even greeted the workers and the manager who I complained to but they didnt greet me back, I felt that was pretty wild from them as I didnt make a fuss about my food, I complained really gently…
