See update from original Original: Overall we had a great experience at Mensa. They have a happy hour with very fresh and flavorful food. We noticed the rooms they have here that sit adjacent to a king infinity pool. A hidden gem. The four out of five stars for good is for the fish that got a bit overcooked. Super nice staff and ambiance was super cozy. Update: We visited this restaurant with high hopes of enjoying a delicious meal. What we got instead was a one-way ticket to the porcelain throne a few hours later… light fever… full recovery after day 2. No other meals earlier or after this. Suspect was the shrimp in the papaya salad. The appetizers / starters were still delicious. Maybe time to retrain staff on proper sanitary food preparation.

10 % discount if you leave a ‘happy satisfied review’ might influence rating. I really wanted to like this place. Beautiful view, the menu looks great and so do the pictures. Unfortunately the seafood plater was served almost cold, the fries were stale. I saw my plate being taken back into the kitchen and the flambé burner being used on it, now it makes sense why. I think my plate was waiting for my partners to be served. His was hot (but fish was dry), mine cold. You can see in the picture that the flamber was being used on the fries. I don’t even want to blame the kitchen because they were working hard. I did raise this to the staff after and they kindly offered me to make something new so the service is great. Unfortunately also the drinks although nicely presented on their instagram, tasted very watery. The two guys who paid before us also were not satisfied with their food. A 10 % discount is offered if you are ‘satisfied and happy’ and leave a review. Unfortunately I was not so I couldn’t make use of this. It seems also that reviews might be biased due to this offer. In the end we did get offered a 20 % discount on just my plate which ended up being less than the 10 % for a satisfied review. The staff was very apologetic and I almost didn’t want to leave this review, but we came here because of the 4,7 rating and I feel like this could be due to the 10 % discount offer. Positive reviews should be given because people leave a place and thinking ‘wow this was great I want to write a review’ and not to get 10 % discount on the spot. Not fair to the customer and not fair to the other restaurants around that actually really earned their reviews. Initially I gave 3 stars but I came back to change my rating to two because this ‘review’ fishing is not cool. Edit: the offer states ‘satisfied and happy’ (see attached picture) and I talked exactly about this to your staff saying that I would love to leave the 5 stars but that I just can’t because we were not satisfied so we didn’t get the 10 %. I really don’t care about 10 % or even 20 % off. As you can see in my almost 50 reviews or so I rarely complain or leave bad reviews. I think asking for reviews for a bonus is just not a good practice. Anyways thanks for your answer and I wish you all the best for your restaurant as the location, view etc. is amazing.

Great view with really friendly staff and lovely atmosphere. But thats it. Slightly small portions with very high price point, same price or more even than a fine dining we went in Ubud and Seminyak. Talking about food, me and my partner shared, the Nasi Goreng was ok however the pork that came with it was old and very dried out which eventually made me sick 5 hours later at 3 am and that was the only food my partner did not eat as she didnt like it, so i can confirm that the pork gave me gastro. The Tantan ramen, was pretty spicy and horrendous, its nothing like the japanese ramen ive had in all my life, partner couldnt eat it so i did regardless it was bad as i have a habit of not wasting food. Fried chicken as you can see in the photo, just all bone and skin also tasted abit old (i know as i am a fried chicken mania). I initially gave the 5 star review at the restaurant for the 10% discount because it was way to expensive for the quality/taste of the food and wanted take off as much as possible. Reading previous 1 star reviews by others, owner seems to think its funny to say dont dine if you can afford which is ridiculous, if youre food quality and taste was superb, no one would complain about the price as it would be worth it. This is my honest review whilst sitting on the toilet for 5th time this morning.

I had a late lunch here. What I ordered are calamari, Thai prawn salad, and steak. Steak was good. Calamari was just the average, but Thai prawn salad was quite different from what I had in Thailand, Yam-un-shen. It's better to say 'Prawn with fried instant ramen'. But a problem was not a food but service. First, there were flock of flies, so it was hard to eat to chase them away. So I told this but their answer was o.k. ( It looks like they did't understand because it commonly happened?). In my opinion, this bistro space opened the north, so the wind did not flow well and that's why there is a flock of flies. If I were staff there, I'll prepare a fan to chase away flies. Second, my card was kept declined even after they changed the machine. But I used that card a few hours ago without any issue. And I used that card this morning again as well. Anyway, I paid by cash(it was lucky I brought my wallet). But what made me feel bad was that staff showed noticeable behavior of wary and kept said 'stay'. It was rude behavior and should not have happened. Someone recommended this bistro, but it was not a good experience. Hope those things will be improved.

We stayed at The Elementum for over a week and the highlight was to work through the entire Mensa menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner with the magnificent views of the ocean. The all day breakfast option was great for lighter meals later in the day. The vegan and vegetarian options available are amazing and most dishes can be modified to make them either. The juices and desserts are not to be missed. Don't be shy to ask the staff about their culture and food as they are very friendly and knowledgeable. The kind of genuine hospitality that becomes the most memorable and meaningful part of exploring a new culture.

I went on a quiet Sunday at 5:30pm so there wasn’t much a vibe, but it meant the service was top notch. I ordered the Vietnamese summer rolls (delicious and fresh, although I would’ve liked if the dipping sauce was a bit lighter so I could dip without the filling falling out), the vegan sweet potato gnocchi (yummy and moist), and a side salad (very standard but did the trick). The kaffir lime cocktails I got were outstanding! By the end I was stuffed. I enjoyed looking out at the view, a few of the guests wading in the water at times. Very relaxing. Very friendly. I’ll be back!
