A resort more suited for groups rather than couples I recently stayed at The Ungasan Clifftop Resort and wanted to share my thoughts on the experience. Overall, I must say that this resort is more suitable for groups and families, rather than couples seeking a romantic getaway. The resort is comprised of 7 villas, each with individual suites that share a private pool , dinning room and gardens. While this setup can be great if you book with friends and have the villa to yourselves, it can feel a bit strange as a couple, sharing the pool, garden, and dining room with other suite guests. Additionally, the suites, although spacious, felt dark and enclosed rather than private. The lack of side tables next to the bed was inconvenient. They placed large standing lamps that didn't serve the purpose well. One positive aspect is that guests have the option to enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner at the main restaurant, avoiding the shared dining area with other guests staying in the compound. This can alleviate the sense of discomfort. The reception experience was quite disappointing. Upon arrival, there was a wait for someone to attend to our luggage, as the resort has only one entrance for both outside guests visiting the Sundays Beach Club and in-house guests. For a 5-star resort, one would expect a prompt greeting and assistance with luggage, rather than having to wait in line with walk-in guests. The grounds of the hotel were beautiful and well-maintained, offering a picturesque view of the cliff. However, it's important to note that only 3 villas have a truly stunning infinity pool with a full view of the cliff. Noor and Chintamani Villa which are available for individual suite bookings, have pools on the side, resulting in a view of the garden wall when lounging on the sunbeds. On a positive note, the sunbeds were incredibly comfortable and spacious. The breakfast at the resort was a delight, featuring a delicious à la carte menu with high quality ingredients. The chef deserves praise for the great job done in crafting the food offerings. Well done! We stayed for two weeks in Bali and this must been the best breakfast we had so far. I must commend the resort's staff for their exceptional friendliness and their efforts to ensure a pleasant stay. They truly go above and beyond to assist guests. In conclusion, The Ungasan Clifftop Resort is not a bad resort, but it was simply not the right choice for us as a couple seeking a different experience. Booking through Agoda provided little to no explanation about how the resort actually operates, leaving us unaware of its concept. Would I stay here again? It will not be my choice unless I were with a group of friends to book the compounds with the beautiful pool overlooking the ocean. Considering the overall experience and value for the money, The Ungasan Clifftop Resort fell short of expectations. While the grounds and amenities were appealing, and the staff was lovely. the lack of privacy, old & dimly lit suites, and limited cliff pool views made it difficult to justify the cost. Therefore, if you are seeking a resort that offers excellent value for your money as a couple, I would suggest exploring other options.

Beautiful resort and fantastic service! Loved the butler. All the staff were attentive and kind making sure my stay was as comfortable as it could be. They even lowered the music at Sunday’s Beach Club because of my sensitivity to noise, which allowed me to enjoy the beach a bit. They had a wedding while I was there but didn’t see or hear it at all. Breakfast (served in room, common area, or restaurant) was delicious. Grounds are superbly maintained. The hotel is divided into sub-sections where a set of ~5 rooms share a common area, garden, pool, and butler. Some of these sections are 5 bedroom villas while others ~5 one bedroom villas. Reason I’m giving this place 4 and not 5 stars is: - Not all rooms of the same category are equal, some have better views/layout than others. For example, the first room I got (plunge pool) had walls all around it, felt like prison. Management had anticipated this and I was able to move to another (garden) room but even there some rooms had walls on 3/4 sides and others 2/4 sides, so the hotel experience and value for money will depend on the room received; - While the hotel is clean and maintained, it feels run down. For example the reception toilets were dark and damp with a shaky tap or the lamp shades by the bed were all chipped.

Ungasan, The Clifftop, is a hotel you will never forget. The breathtaking view of the Indian Ocean, the beautifully maintained gardens, and the friendliness of the staff make for an unforgettable holiday. The delightful breakfast and unexpected visits from monkeys added a unique charm to our stay. If you seek ultimate relaxation paired with excellent service (including buggy rides and VIP service at the Sundays Beach Club), this is the place in Uluwatu you must experience. For my wife’s birthday, the staff sang beautifully and surprised me with a cake—it was such a lovely touch! A standout feature of this place is the glass elevator that takes you from the clifftop down to the beach and Sundays Beach Club. This was a new and exciting experience for us! There are also stairs available, so be cautious if you have difficulty walking. In the evening, we received a thoughtful present, which made us feel truly special. Highly recommended if you appreciate luxury, relaxation, and a bit of reflection!

Absolutely Amazing Resort & Wedding Venue of your Dreams !!!

My husband & I who are aged in our 60’s flew to Bali to attend our daughter’s wedding, which took place at Ungasan Clifftop Resort In Uluwatu.

We always knew this place would be “special” from all the photos and research we had done & from the wedding information our daughter had told us. But OMG, holy moly, from the moment we arrived at walked into reception, we honestly felt like we needed longer arms to pick up our jaws off the floor. Ungasan is so gobsmackingly beautiful, it’s hard to translate the feeling, the emotion & the stunning scenery into words. The superlatives for this place are endless. Set on the clifftop, the expansive view across the Indian Ocean, which is literally right in front of you is breathtaking.

As a 5 star hotel resort, it excels in every way imaginable. As a wedding venue, honestly, it second to none in the world. The setting is absolutely magical and the manner in which it is set up on the lawns overlooking the ocean, with flowers everywhere, arches, you name it, it’s there, & it’s all part of the wedding package. It was like something out of a magazine. Totally surreal.

The Villa accommodation was gorgeous, & we were lucky enough to stay in Villa Tamaramma. Our Villa had direct ocean frontage, … absolutely stunning. The groom & his mates prior to the wedding stayed in Villa Amber. again, stunning. The villas comes with 24/7 butler service & breakfast can be served either in the Villa or in the main dining area. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff at Ungasan. They all make you feel so special. I’d like to extend a special thank you to Sasha, the Ungasan wedding planner who liaised with my daughter on an ongoing basis for 12 months prior. She was so brilliant, so wonderful, so good at her job, and even personally came to greet my husband & I on arrival. During the course of our 2 days on site, she was “simply awesome” ensuring and reassuring that everything went so perfectly.

Of course, adding to the perfection & WOW of Ungasan is the fact that they have their own beach, which, uniquely, is accessed from the clifftop to the beach by cable car. Seriously guys, where else can you find something like that!!! Sunday’s Beach Club is arguably Bali’s most beautiful beachfront location where you can sit on provided bean bags on the beach, where you can sip cocktails, & have a bite to eat, all brought to you on the beach by staff. They fire up the beach bonfires at sunset. This alone was a “heaven on earth” experience & a magical way to end a day at this phenomenal resort.

Finally, all I can say is that any experience you’re lucky to have at Ungasan Clifftop Resort, regardless of occasion will absolutely knock your socks off in every way imaginable. It will leave you with an experience and a memory that I assure you will be very long lasting. A million percent recommend. A special piece of paradise & a world class resort that is unmatched anywhere else...
