Star Two Thousand Bungalow — Hotel in Nusa Penida Subdistrict

It's a real shame as the location is excellent & rooms are good value. Staff are nice enough at the restaurant but overall my 1star review is because of the dodgy reception guy & treatment of their dog, i wouldn't stay again. ||||Its a shame because our room was light filled & a good size so if we wanted to stay out of the sun we could relax in our room. Great location next to Ginger & Jamu yoga & resto. There are only a few sun lounges in the shade to lie on so you either sit at tables or on beanbags in the sun, or relax in your room. The restaurant staff are nice but food is average.||||The big turnoff for us was that the owner keeps a french bulldog locked out the back in a tiny cage. Apparently it runs away. Not sure why they can't just put it on a long lead? Clearly the dog is just a posession not a companion. Very cruel to see this cute little guy locked up and exposed to the elements all day. ||||The guy who makes bookings charged an 8% credit card fee which we let slide *not sure why in hindsight but even with the fee it worked out to be 370,000IDR for a good room with a/c so we paid it. But he also overcharged us for petrol on the motorbike hire saying he was helping us out. We paid 110,000 IDR for motorbike and fuel which in the scheme of things to us is cheap but the motorbike was old, trashed & indicators didn't work. Definitely book a...

Owner keeps a french bulldog locked in a small cage behind the restaurant all day while he is away. The staff are nice enough but can't do anything. Rooms are good for the price and location but would never stay here again. We stayed 3 nights and the poor dog was let out of its cage once. The first two days the dog was sitting in its own excrement. Having lived in Indonsia i know there a far greater issues in terms of treatment of animals and people living in poverty. But there is a simple solution here - apparently the dog runs away. Not sure why they can't get a collar and long rope and keep the dog out the front.
