Our family of 4 stayed here in a family villa with private pool and 2 bathrooms for 5 nights (thought we had to leave a day early). ||We arranged pickup from the ferry through the villas which was easy and then hired scooters through the villas for a very reasonable price. ||The daily breakfast had a decent selection and even when they ran out of Vegemite one morning when all I could stomach was toast, the helpful staff scrounged around and managed to find me one last single serve. ||The location is great - a short walk to Dream Beach, Devil’s Tears, and several restaurants and minimarts. Highly recommend the Japanese restaurant Oishii Bar & Grill nearby. We went twice and it was top notch. ||The staff are super helpful. Our son needed medical attention and the staff were very quick to help transport us to the nearby medical centre. We then needed to checkout a day early and they went over and above to get our laundry back and get us to our earlier ferry on time. ||The pros:|- Friendly staff who are eager to assist with whatever you need. |- The grounds are well-kept and it’s quiet and peaceful. |- Clean rooms and bed linens. |- Great location if you don’t want to stay in Jungut Batu.|- Decent wifi if you need it. ||The cons:|- Inconsistent service. One day the mosquito coil is lit for you, the next day it isn’t, the day after it is. The bins weren’t always cleared daily. Random. |- The towels need an upgrade - see photo. The one on the left were obviously from a new batch which we got on our last day. The one on the right were what we had the rest of the time which were often threadbare. |- Our pool towels were never replaced in our entire stay. We probably could’ve asked but staying in a pool villa we shouldn’t have to. |- Bathrooms could use an upgrade but for some this could play into the island rustic appeal (see photo).||All in all, a great...
Read moreWe had initially booked a villa with private pool but it didn’t really meet our expectations so changed to 2 x bungalows that were 1/2 the price of the villa online. Our stay was great & staff were amazing throughout. Why the one star rating is because on checking out we were informed that the manager had decided that we were not initialled to any discount even though the room cost was halved (even with the 2 rooms). we were willing to except 25% even though that meant we were paying well over what any other guest was at the time for the exact same room (we know this because a family member had booked the bungalow also) and still no from the manager. As we had paid upfront it left us little recourse & the manager didn’t even have the decency to discuss in person rather leaving it to the receptionist which was uncomfortable for her also. Very disappointing experience. *Update: be careful leaving honest review, I’ve have been harassed on WhatsApp with numerous messages & had to block two numbers. And we didn’t not want to pay our food bill, you had charges for villa 5 and we had...
Read moreWe spent a lovely four nights at Sunset Garden.
We rented a two-bedroom villa with a private pool. The estate was a wooden hut in traditional Balinese style with an open bathroom set in a lush tropical garden. The houses are pretty basic, but we enjoyed the authenticity and had a comfortable stay at a great price.
We also enjoyed the location. We stayed on Mushroom Bay before, and while Sunset Garden is not right on the beach, we preferred the location of Sunset Garden because it was within easy walking distance of Mushroom Bay, Sunset Beach and Dream Beach.
We didn't ever eat at the onsite restaurant itself. However, we ordered pizzas for lunch by the pool a few times and found them to be very tasty with a nice crispy base. There are also many other dining and spa options within easy walking distance.
One of the best things about Sunset Garden was the manager, Suri. He went above and beyond, ensuring that our stay was comfortable, and organised all our transport, scooter rental and a...
