We enjoyed 4 memorable days on the charming island of Nusa Lembongan, and in the Radiance Sunset Villas we had a great base from which to explore.||||Right from the moment we arrived, to the moment the bade them a sad farewell, Gde and his happy team looked after our every wish and comfort, nothing was too much trouble for them, and our only regret was that we hadn't stopped longer.||||The location is slightly inland and is a small but well designed complex that's private and intimate. Rooms are rather like log cabins with an outdoor bathroom. Our bed was super comfy and the room was cleaned daily.||||The place is spotless and there's a lovely swimming pool and small sun terrace for those wanting to rest. Breakfast was well presented and we had a good choice including fruit, orange juice, and the option of either a full cooked breakfast or one of several healthier options including pancakes or omelette.||||Gde, his wife Wayan, and the super smily helping hands comprising of Wayan (#2), and Kadek (×2) were all so lovely and welcoming. Gde was a mine of local information and he arranged for us to hire a scooter, and also for a local boatman to take us snorkelling.||||Mushroom Bay, with several good restaurants (really recommend Hai Ri Zen!!) can be reached on foot in 10 to 20 minutes, depending on the route you take, we found a footpath running from the side of the house that cut the time down to just 10 minutes. You can also take a scooter and reach Mushroom Bay in just 5 minutes.||||Likewise the popular 'Devils Tear' is very close, and Dream Beach.||||We very much enjoyed our stay here and hope that we can return. Although it's a small place it's perfect for exploring the island.||||Some brief notes on the island. Before 11am and after 4pm the island is relatively quiet. But between those times there is a daily 'tidal wave' of mainly Chinese tourists, all seemingly on a selfie tour, who arrive in droves via speedboats from Bali every day, there are thousands of them, all bused to the popular tourist spots, and this not only chokes the tiny Island roads, but also means if you're hoping to see the sights yourself then your enjoyment and views will be ruined by this invasion. We were appalled by the lack of environmental awareness, and the sheer impact that thousands of camera obsessed tourists and the litter that they leave behind can have on this small island. The situation on the adjacent Island of Nusa Ceningen was just as bad.||||So travel around either early in the morning, or late afternoon, and you'll enjoy peace and quiet. Please be very careful on the roads, which are awful by UK or European standards, we lost count of the number of people who'd been injured following a scooter accident, that included two couples at our accommodation, one lady having had 14 stitches in an ankle injury that basically ruined her holiday. Travel very carefully if you rent a scooter!||||We noted that the standard of food was excellent wherever we ate, and everywhere seemed to have a superb view of the sunset. A lovely little island retreat that will sadly very soon be ruined by the unsustainable numbers of daily tourists who flood across from Bali each day. Come and visit before the island is overrun, and do use the Radiance Sunset Villas as your base, you...
Read moreGreat place to stay on lembongan! Very close to shops, restaurants and beaches. We hired a moped from the hotel, which was great. Owner and staff are really helpful and good chat too.
Only downside for me personally was that the bathrooms have the top corners open to the outside, so loads of bugs get in and then make it into the bedroom. I'm aware this is very common in Bali, so still 5*s but if these little bits of the roof were boarded up it would make is so much more appealing!
Breakfast is lovely, my partner and I both opted for the fresh banana pancakes every day, which was served with a melon plate and orange juice, tea or coffee. Very nice way to start the day!
Swimming pool is a good size and pretty deep. We swam at night to keep out the sun and the pool was still very warm from the days heat. Was amazing to star gaze from the pool. There was an island wide power outage (though the villas had a generator) so that meant less light pollution than usual on the island making the skies even more fully lit with stars when we were in the pool.
On our last day the owner booked us a fast boat back to Sanur with a taxi pickup.
Finally bedrooms are nice and spacious, lots of space for clothes and cases, and good facilities, fridge, Aircon etc. TV didn't work, but we didn't use it anyway! Bed was big and had mosquito nets all around which were a bonus due to the aforementioned bathroom situation. Bed did have a big dip on it, the outsides sloped meaning there was a hill going into the middle of the bed. But still very...
Read moreI have just returned from Bali and while there spent a few days at the Radiance Sunset Villas in Nusa Lembongan. The hotel is small, as are most on Lembongan, so if you are looking for something like the Sheraton or Intercontinental, maybe Nusa Lembongan won't be for you. And lets hope Lembongan stays that way as it is such an awesome little island, thus far untouched by the corporates. Sorry to stray, but it's important to understand the vibe.
So anyway, despite the absence of Bell Boys and overpriced beer and food, we quickly fell in love with the place. The rooms were great and like many of the previous comments have expressed, the beds were very comfortable. The room are like little wooden villas, which are clean, nice and quite charming.
And while speaking of charm, the rooms have to take second place to the owner "G Day". Now I'm pretty sure that isn't the spelling, but it is pronounced 'G Day' (or close to it).
G'day is an absolute super star, as is his lovely wife. He has all the hacks and will steer you in the right direction for activities and places to go. On top of that, he's just a really top bloke and always happy to help or just have a chat.
G'day actually manages the activities too as well as Scooter hire and pretty anything else you might need.
If you want a really nice atmosphere and an authentic experience, this venue will...
