My husband and I came out to ubud for our first stop of our honeymoon. We booked via agoda to stay at The Kampung Ubud Villas for 6 nights. Due to traveling over 19 hours to get to ubud our first night at the hotel seemed fine to us as we were dead tired.

The disaster of our stay starts from day 2. Firstly the "fresh towels" were stained and dirty and the curtain drapes around the bed had red stains (God knows what it was). The pool was filthy which both my husband and I refused to get into.

As the evening approached this is when our nightmare began. We were both woken up at 3am to the sounds of Lizards running and screeching in our room coming from all directions - behind our bed, under our bed, on top of our bed and on the walls around the room.

This freaked us out!!!! We contacted reception right away to deal with the situation. They tried to get rid of the lizards however they were too fast and ran and hid in our room.

At this point both my husband and I couldn't go to sleep -our eyes looking everywhere to the sounds we could hear.

We fully understand lizards are a big part of Bali's habitat nature but we never expected them to be sleeping in the room with us.

The lizards entered our room by the cracks between the wall and sliding doors and the biggest gaps between the "closed" sliding doors.

We immediately packed our stuff and decided to look for another hotel as the Kampung Ubud Villas did not address our concern nor helped to find a solution to help us. (The only solution provided at the time between 3am - 7am was to place tissues in the cracks but only done to one section of where the problem occurred). My husband and I went to look for an alternative hotel to stay in for the rest of our duration.

When we returned back to the Kampung Ubud to speak to the manager and to check out and request for a refund - yet again no help was given and no refund. Instead we were informed it is normal for lizards to be in the room with us and this is part of nature and the norm.

We contacted agoda for their support and provided images and a full description in writing of what happened- agoda contacted the hotel to request for the refund and the hotel refused to do so and agoda did not support us at all.

Stay away from this hotel unless you want to sleep with lizards...

We absolutely loved our one week stay here as a couple.

The Villa, to us, was perfectly located, a 10-20 minutes drive from Ubud Center (just call a Grab on your phone and your driver is here in two minutes, costs us 3€ every day), we were happy to stay not too close to the center as it can get pretty busy- to us the location was perfect!

Good breakfast, we could chose between 3 types of breakfast each morning and tbh, I don’t understand the bad reviews about it. We had toasts, eggs prepared however we wanted them, fruits, a large amount of coffee, toasts with jams and butter, potatoes, some greens and we said not to add the bacon and sausages as we’re vegetarians.

The Villa was clean and functional, it was our first trip to Indonesia and we were blown away to have all this space to ourselves. The pool was AMAZING, getting cleaned frequently, good temperature and just overall incredible to look at!

I saw reviews talking about too much insects so I was expecting to be really bothered by it- truth is we barely saw any! Sure there was the occasional mosquitoes or butterfly but NOTHING as bad as those reviews make it up to be.

We adored the outdoor bathroom. Not scary at all even at night! On the contrary, it was so relaxing to have so many outdoors spaces. Plenty of hot shower, the two of us were able to take at least two hot showers a day without ever running out of hot water.

The Villa is located in center Bali which is a jungle, and we really loved the way it felt like we had our own home in Bali- and not just a room in a resort with lots of tourists.

Staff was nice and helpful, we didn’t eat in the Villa itself because there are so many places to eat around Ubud and if you’re hungry late a night you can always order food brought to you at your door.

The only negative point was that almost every day for a few hours in the afternoon, there was a local volleyball game playing next door, so lots of noises and music, but it’s part of the local life and even had some fun listening along to the game and dancing by ourselves to the music! And if you don’t want to hear it, just plan your activities during these hours, the rest of the time the place is really quiet.

Overall a beautiful stay, we were sad to leave and wished we could have...

After the hectic weeks at work, me and a friend decided to spend a day away far from Canggu. Something different than the vibes of Canggu. We thought then, “ubud it is”. |So we booked it.|||Went there yesterday, when I arrived the villa atmosphere felt a bit empty. The guy at the front office was nice and he made jokes too, which is nice. He escorted me to my villa and the other guy got our bags. ||If you’re expecting the luxury, amazing service, kind-of 4-star villa, this is probably not what you’re looking for. |This place is more relaxing kinda place which by relaxing I mean it feels more like ‘home’. ||The villa is nice, not too big, not too luxury, not too romantic, but enough. It’s comfortable. ||The floor all over the swimming pool, the room, and the bathroom isn’t slippery. |I like the half outdoor bathroom, so nice. But quite scary at night time. ||The facilities are enough and nice. ||Oh! And they also deliver breakfast into your room in the morning, you can choose what kind of breakfast you’d like in the morning and their choices are all delicious! (I got the vegetarian breakfast and my friend got the American breakfast. They’re both delicious and good! We had one of the best breakfast served in a villa!) |+ they also ask on what time would you like your breakfast to be served.|||Cleanliness: 3 / 5|Friendly staff: 4 / 5||The only - that keeping me away from giving this place a full-star is because the space between one to another villa is too close. I could listen to my neighbour talking on the phone clearly at night, could hear what the other neighbours were talking about, and I didn’t feel comfortable playing music on my speaker cus I scared to disturb my neighbours.|||The wifi in my room won’t work.||And there’s a lot if insects in the room.||We had pizza delivered for dinner and left it on the bed for like 5 mins and when we hot back, the ants were all over the pizza and at night, ||And one thing that makes me feel very uncomfortable is when I slept last night, i think there’s some kind of insect on the bed, it makes me itch and skin bumps on my back & my leg. ||Overall this place is “nice, simple, confortable”.||I’d like to come back and spend another night there...

For us it was bad experience, room had lot of insects. The room service phone was not working so for every small thing we had to walk to reception even at odd times, they kept on telling we will get it repaired buy no one came. Breakfast was pathetic. They didn't even deliver what they committed to us they said, we forgot!! Unprofessional and untrained staff. Would never visit again. No one even came for room cleaning. Shower is not proper, hot water facility is poor, there is bath tub but without hot water and slow water flow it is of no use. Restaurant is also not there.

The place was good and setup was nice. Only concern was the furniture’s were little old. They have a stove with gas we didnot had chance to try it as we were not planned for it. We have a seperate compound for us with a swimming pool, dinning area and an open shower , hot water was available but not enough to fill entire tub. Food we need to order and they provide us in the room. Wifi was not that good. There was no seperate restaurant setup. Menu was limited, taste was ok.
