Villa Gading — Hotel in Pulau Bali

I recently stayed at this villa for 4 days and was initially very excited. However, the experience did not match the expectations set by the pictures on Google Maps and the booking website. The images showcased a beautifully renovated 3-bedroom villa, and I in a 2-bedroom villa that was not as depicted in the photos of booking websites and here in google maps.

The furniture in the bedrooms was extremely old, and the bottom-floor bathroom was in a disgusting state, emanating a foul drainage smell that permeated the entire ground floor bedroom. I couldn’t sleep the first night due to the odor, and to make matters worse, the AC wasn’t working.

I contacted the property manager, Eko, about the AC, and while he was supportive and sent a team to check it out, the problem persisted. After returning from a day out at 7:00 PM, the AC still wasn’t functioning. When I texted Eko again, he insisted it was fixed. Upon insisting he check it himself, he realized the issue but said there was no one available to help until morning. I was very upset and demanded either immediate repairs or another place to stay. After some persistence, Eko managed to find a maintenance man who fixed the AC around 11:00 PM.

On a positive note, Eko was very attentive in other ways. He ensured the villa was cleaned daily and even arranged for someone to help with our bags when we left. Despite these efforts, the state of the 2-bedroom villa was disappointing. I believe my experience would have been different had I booked the 3-bedroom villa.

The service was good – the staff were friendly and punctual, waiting for us at the airport to pick us up. The price was reasonable as well. The bathroom was beautiful with a bathtub, and the villa provided a hot-and-cold water dispenser. The bed was comfortable, and the swimming pool had a depth ranging from about 1.55m to 1.7m.

The location was convenient, with a minimart just a few steps away from the villa. There was also a spacious parking area outside, and the surrounding environment was peaceful since the villa is situated further inside. Along the way to the villa, we noticed several cafés and restaurants, and even a nearby pickleball court.

Areas for Improvement: • The hairdryer was too weak. • Iron was not provided. • Cleanliness could be improved, especially in the kitchen and on the floor. The cups should be replaced as some had stains that couldn’t be cleaned. • Minor renovations are needed, such as repainting, fixing some old furniture, and repairing the staircase.
