Villa La Mer — Hotel in Pulau Bali

Power shut off at 11am; water did not work throughout the house until the next morning. Had housekeeping and security attempting to fix it with a bottle of water and smashing a rock repeatedly on it. Had to get my travel agent to move us to a hotel the next morning. The manager kept trying to keep us from leaving - kept asking us, “but why are you leaving, it’s all fixed now”. This was funny because we still only had cold water, and were not able to flush the toilet - for over 24 hours at that point.

The good points: The place was beautiful Security, Mr Made, was nice (even though he tried fixing the water pump with a rock) Housekeeper, Mrs Made was nice.

The bad points in summary: One of the beds were broken (in the middle, so the mattress sunk in the middle) Manager was terrible - lying and also didn’t bother coming to fix the issue OR attempt to call an electrician/plumber until it was over 24 hours. Beds gave two of us a rash (bed bugs); a week later and my rash is just fading away with the proper meds. Water was unreliable - expect to not flush your toilets; which by the way are OUTDOORS Showers don’t have privacy; glass doors and can be seen by Bali OR people in your villa upstairs Electricity blows Villa address is not clear - multiple drivers could not find the place Filled of bugs/geckos indoors - especially in bedroom/toilet Pool was full of chemicals beyond standard chlorine - literally turned our skin, pool floaties and clothes orange Villa was situated in a dark alley, away from the central district. Not so bad, until you find out that your bedrooms dont have locks, and the villa only has one door with a lock. Not secure. When checking in, the Staff told us there were no safes. When we were literally standing next to the safe. Don’t trust the security of the venue!

Place is beautiful, but only in photos. Stay away from all of the Citrus Tree Villas; all run by the same manager/owner: Better off...

Soooooooo disappointing. The maintenance on this villa is sooo bad. The property looks like it's someone's house and not a good one. Staff sit around right in front of you while you are in the pool and smoke. Not clean with buts and dust. The boards along the pool are so dangerous you had to be very careful when walking or you could fall in or get splinters. The main bedroom is so open to the elements that it has so many monsquitoes and spiders, and if your sitting on the toilet whoever is in the pool can see you? Safe didn't work, no toaster,old food left in microwave and staff did not seem to care and not a very big villa felt like staying in box. The rooftop is nothing, it has a great bar but no shade no chairs (2 that were broken) no nothing, it is such a waste as it has a great view. It would not take much to bring it back but there are so many other villas in Bali that are 100 times better. When we arrived we thought ok never mind this is Bali we will make do. But then we visited a few other villas in the next few days as we had a group of friends scattered and our villa was the worst by far. We left. Our money...

Beautiful little villa with lots of space! Very convenient location with easy access to the ocean, restaurants, bars and other shops...that's if you ever decide to leave the villa. The rooftop terrace was nice for sunrises and the pool was always very cool.
