I’m really sad to write this review. We had visited the hotel 3 years ago and left 5 stars across the board. We were so excited to return after a huge refurbishment. ||We arrived at the hotel to a really like warm welcome, no offer of help with luggage, local reservations etc - the complete opposite of our original stay. ||We booked the highest level of room ‘Desideria.’ Our room was incredibly large in comparison with the general size in Italy, light and airy. The bathroom was good. There was a new addition of a huge smart TV in the room. Firstly, it’s in completely the wrong place - in a corner where it’s impossible to watch from the bed and the only other furniture in the room are two desk style chairs. It’s also branded as a smart tv,however… the apps or Apple TV don’t work. When we queried this we were told the hotel didn’t have a streaming licence. ||The biggest issue was the outdoor space - the highlight of the hotel. The location is second to none - a stunning lake view. However, the redesign means there is now ZERO privacy. The hotel state this is to allow ‘freedom’ but it’s appalling. Your only boundary between the neighbouring decks are tiny shrubs. The other huge issue is the hot tub - this was one of our favourite features last time. In the new rooms the hot tub faces the building rather than the lake! This means you don’t get your lake view… just one straight into your neighbour’s bedroom with a useless privacy curtain. ||We mentioned this to the hotel. We were met with eye rolls and told they would change the position of the hot tubs at a later date. They also said we could change rooms but only after 3 nights. There was no apology - instead, we were made to feel really uncomfortable. ||Whilst staying in the original room we just didn’t feel comfortable using the deck. The housekeeping was also an issue - mugs and glasses weren’t replaced, beds were sometimes left half done. It just felt as if nobody cared - the opposite of our first experience. ||When we moved we were in an older room. Whilst we had a little more privacy and a hot tub facing the right way, there were still issues. The hot tub next door was directly outside of a side window of our room meaning we had to keep the curtains closed. The bottom of the deck was open so we had our neighbours walking in to take photos from the corner of our deck. ||The housekeeping got worse. Cleaners were jumping over balconies at 7am in the morning to ‘clean’ the decks. This happened even when we had ‘do not disturb’ on and woke us up several times. We also felt we couldn’t use the deck or open the curtains in the morning because of this. Still, they didn’t make the beds properly or take away and replace mugs and glasses. ||When asked how our stay was at check out we told them. They quite abruptly told us we should have told them sooner. After the response to the issues with our first room we didn’t want to spend more time being dismissed by reception. It seems all of the care has gone from this hotel replaced with a desire to make it instagrammable. I’d also remind the staff here that they probably shouldn’t presume guests can’t speak Italian whilst having a conversation about them right in front of them…||What should have been a magical holiday was...
Read moreLet me regale you with tales of our splendid stay at the Hotel Lago di Garda in Torbole—a gem nestled in the serene embrace of Lake Garda. As a culinary enthusiast and fervent traveler, I found this hotel to be an absolute delight, perfectly positioned to combine the best of Lake Garda with a Michelin Star restaurant to boast. After a scenic two and a half-hour direct train journey from Venice to Verona, we arrived at our haven by the lake.
The location of Hotel Lago di Garda is sublime. Set on the quieter side of the lake, it offers a peaceful retreat while still being a stone's throw from an array of high-quality restaurants. The beach and Lido, less than a five-minute stroll away, provide the perfect spots for a refreshing dip or a leisurely day by the water. Windsurfing and SUPs were close by and easy to hire.
Our accommodation was nothing short of spectacular. The penthouse family interconnecting rooms on the fourth floor were a true highlight, offering ample space and comfort for our family. The veranda terrace, however, was the crowning glory. Overlooking the lake, it provided a view so breathtaking that it remains eternally etched in our minds. Imagine sipping a glass of complimentary Spumante while gazing at the tranquil waters—pure bliss!
Breakfast at Hotel Lago di Garda was everything one would expect from a high-quality boutique hotel. A delightful array of choices that set us up perfectly for the day’s adventures. The staff, ever attentive and accommodating, were a significant part of our enjoyable stay. Their recommendations for local dining were spot-on, and their assistance in arranging transport to the airport was invaluable. They also arranged a private boat ride on the lake which was amazing with excellent views, a secret waterfall and enchanting town of Limona.
A standout moment was the complimentary Spumante—a lovely touch that was very welcome in the summer heat. It’s these little details that elevate a stay from great to unforgettable.
In summary, Hotel Lago di Garda is arguably the best boutique hotel in Torbole. From its idyllic location and luxurious accommodations to its attentive staff and excellent amenities, it’s a place where memories are made. If your travels take you to this beautiful region, do yourself a favor and book a stay—you won’t be...
Read moreOctober holiday in the beautiful Lago di Garda Hotel
We just returned from the 4-day vacation we spent in the beautiful Lago di Garda Hotel. Although we decided at the last minute and did not have much information about the city Torbole or the hotel, we were very pleased with the choice. The hotel is modern and located in the city center right by the lake. Upon check-in at reception, we received friendly welcome with free drinks and snacks. We had a mansard room, it was nicely furnished, clean, but unfortunately with small windows, which disturbed us a bit. Therefore, it was so much better in the dining room with large panoramic windows with a direct view of the lake - wonderful. The food was great too. The city Torbole is small and therefore you can forget about the car. We parked it at the hotel parking, which is a short distance away from the hotel. The promenades in the city, above the city and in the neighboring town are beautiful. The most beautiful is the walking path along the lake to the Riva del Garda. It is also a pleasant ride to the neighboring towns of the lake (Limone, Malcesine) with ferry boat, which stops a few steps from the hotel. In the city are many pleasant restaurants, pizzerias, ice cream shops, shops, etc. During this time (the second week in October) there were not too many tourists, so the restaurant service was quick and the staff was very friendly. In short, 4 days have passed quickly and we will definitely return to the Lago di...
