There are places that were just not made to be a retaurant. The Sottovento is one of them.
Reserved table for 5 to celebrate a birthday at 19h. Two children ordered first, their food took more than one and a half hour to arrive. Meanwhile adults ordered half a liter of Prosecco. Waiter came with the drinks with 1.5 liters of Prosecco... He simply couldn't accept a mistake had been made came three times to the table to argue about the issue...needless to say also that he couldn't distinguish between an apple juice and a prosecco... But that was unfortunately just the beggining... Adults had to wait for more than one hour just to be able to order, nobody had an interest in our table and the team was just running around with no sense of organisation or order of customer attendance.. After 1h after the order, adults had no food yet... When we could finally grab the waitress she promised the food would be there in 10 minutes.. Half an hour past... and... nothing.. After 22h and only after insisting with the waiter again, we could get the manager at the tsble... Even if our unsatisfaction was explained in a calm and polite manner, the so called "manager" had no interest in listening or propose any solution (for instance an alternative food choice). He said he didn't care about the birthday party because there was a problem in the kitchen (even if all the tables who got to the restaurant after us were properly served, some all the way through dessert). .. The so called "manager" was extremely aggressive even to the person having the birthday. When confronted about his extremely rude manners he got even more aggressive and approaching his huge body too close to us in a threatening stance. We feared for our safety in this place. We were invited to leave the restaurant by the manager without paying drinks and the kids' food and that's what we did immediately for our own safety sake. Horrible experience, in fact I never experienced such similar situation in a restaurant before and up to now find a hard time to believe how can a "restaurant" be "managed" in such bad way. A customer here can quickly be transformed in a punch bag if things go south.

Read moreUnfortunately this restaurant is in need of a Kitchen Nightmares style intervention. The pizzaiolo is quite delusional and combative when shortcomings are exposed, it would make very good TV. 2 pasta dishes took just shy of 1.5 hours to arrive - after asking at 1 hr they proclaimed that the spaghetti had to be made fresh as there was none ready. We did not believe this and instead discussed between us and decided we would prefer to pay for our drinks and leave as it was way too late and untrustworthy. As if by magic the dishes arrived while we attempted to leave (after the reminder to them that we had not yet been served), and were forced to pay for the full amount regardless of the ridiculousness of the situation. The pizzaiolo then claimed he already has a convention with the police to remove all these fake poor reviews as they must be treated as slander. I can confirm they are not fake. Two tables next to us also had issues, one had a salad that did not arrive with the rest of the meals, an apologetic tiramisu was given but the look on her face said everything already, they left after a bite (pictured). Another had a pizza that did not arrive with the rest on their table either until nearly an hour later. This has left 3 groups of people with disappointing evenings and a stain on their holidays, just from my experience.

And let me explain my negative rating in a few sentences (I didn't do it earlier due to lack of time): the pasta with truffles was made with poor quality pasta and you just added a little bit of ordinary truffle paste that you can buy on the internet or in a shop with a wide range of local products, nothing more, and you charge about 17 euros for it - I do it better at home, even though I am not a cook. the risotto was watery and had little flavour the wine was average (the best we have had in your restaurant) the service was unpleasant, except for a lady who tried to understand us (because we tried to communicate in English) - your first comment proves that this is not an exception, but a pattern.
