If all this is the case, it would have been appropriate to communicate this to the customer. If it is such fine dining why did no one come check on us at all throughout our dining or come to refill our when glasses? You can tell from their reply that there is a defensive attitude. I’ve been to many fine dining gourmet places with far better service and food.

Before ordering the 39 euro zucchini florets I asked the waiter: “Is this big enough as a main course,” specifying I was looking for something filling for dinner. He ensured me it was. When it came (see photo) I was shocked to find just three small florets, hardly a dinner. When I complained to the manager he said, “Perhaps I didn’t understand you before my English is not good.” Meanwhile, when I had questions about the wine we ordered I found his English vocabulary to be the best I’ve encountered on my entire trip across Italy. Serendipity led us to discover this hidden treasure when most of the region's restaurants had closed for the holidays. Upon entering the restaurant, we were welcomed with impeccable service, prompting us to promptly reserve it for our wedding. Pietro and the entire team displayed exceptional professionalism.
