Geier Ristorante — Restaurant in Comunità Alto Garda e Ledro

We are writing a very mixed review. We initially sat down for an afternoon drink and for that purpose the service was very good. Based on that we decided to stay on for dinner. Unfortunately our experience of the dinner service and meals then went downhill. We waited a long time to order food and over the course of the evening watched 4 tables get up and leave after they had been seated for more than 15 minutes and then forgotten. Some of the staff members were on their game, others seemed to just be walking around aimlessly, having no idea what was going on. The antipasto misto mare was excellent, the antipasto snack was not. The menu listed onion rings, but it came with potato croquettes instead. For our main course we chose 3 entrecote with baked potatoes and 1 hamburger with fries. We had asked if we could switch the fries for salad, which was not possible, and we do need to respect the decision of the kitchen even though salads were on the menu. The hamburger description listed it coming with bacon and grilled onions. The bacon was non existent and the onions were raw red onion. The entrecote was described on the menu as being marinated in parsley and garlic. We did not taste any evidence of that and the cut was not entrecote, it was more like minute steak. The potatoes were fried rather than grilled and really was one potato on each plate cut into 3...

This restaurant should be ashamed of the food they serve. I had grilled fish with veggies and a salad. The fish was kind of OK, did not seem grilled but rather fried on a pan, was not crispy, was not seasoned, and was not filetted properly either. The veggies were bland, just cooked, no seasoning or sauce. The salad was simply a few lettuce leafs with tomatoes, no traces of anything else like a sauce, or even just olive oil, salt, pepper. Overall, unappealing, can't imagine an Italian eating this sort of crap. Zero stars for food. One star for the fairly friendly service, but nothing special here either. The atmosphere was fine, though there was a street duo playing music too loud nearby, apparently the staff did not manage to handle this. The price was outrageous for the tasteless meal they served. I live in the US and saw a travel video on YouTube of Lake Garda and Torbole almost 8 years ago that included a few seconds of the most delicious looking pizza I'd ever seen... and I noted the name of the restaurant was "Geier".

So fast-forward to 2024 and I finally got to visit Lake Garda in person. I never forgot the pizza I saw in the YouTube video and made a point of tracking down and eating at Pizzeria Geier in Torbole.

It was everything I hoped for! It was the best pizza I ate during the whole trip, arriving fresh within minutes of ordering, and the view of Lake Garda a few meters away was breathtaking.
