My wife and I have just returned from a long weekend spent at Maison La Saxe, and we had a wonderful time. The accommodation, renovated by our host Raphael himself, is based in a converted and refurbished 300 year old building nestled in the small village of La Saxe, near Courmayeur. It takes about 15 mins to walk into the centre of Courmayeur from the apartment. (We used our hire car to get to the telecabine at Dolonne to get us up to the ski area).
Raphael is a superb host - he couldn't be more helpful and friendly and he really made the experience one to remember. His attention to detail is remarkable including the interior decor (making the place feel rustic yet modern), the delicious breakfasts (all locally sourced) or the bespoke toiletries provided in the rooms.
The rooms are beautifully and traditionally decorated and make amazing use of the space, making the bijou size feel very cozy and homely. We stayed in Suite No 2 and woke up to amazing views up the Aosta valley every morning which was a real treat.
I would recommend anyone looking for a beautiful experience to stay with Raphael - you will not be...

The service is abysmal.Owner indicated that the hotel has a parking. Indicated parking is down the hill. So be ready to haul your suitcases 400m up the hil ( according to the owner 70 meeters, trust me it does not feel that way ).
Ohh wait this parking is not even hotels but public parking that off course you guessed it is full ! The manager thinks that this is a most normal thing and the hotel can have this as an amenity or " feature". Wait there is more, even if you will manage to park it, the parking must be vacated between 0600 and 1000 am or your car will be towed !
Wait wait, the listing states street parking ? Yeah right. A single car can barely pass in the streets of this town. There is not a single place to street park.
Want a refund ? Forget it. He does not even pick up to Expedia' calls to confirm the refund.
Would kindly recommend the owner to adjust his listing to avoid such situations...
Read moreWe had an absolutely wonderful stay at Maison La Saxe during our Tour du Mont Blanc hike—it was the perfect mid-trip oasis! We ended up extending our visit by an extra night because it served as an ideal base for exploring the stunning Aosta Valley. From the Maison La Saxe, we easily hopped on local and regional buses to visit enchanting castles, fascinating Roman ruins, and taste in the region’s cuisine. Everything felt seamless and authentic.
The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. Our room was quaint and charming, with that cozy alpine vibe we needed after days on the trail. The bed was super comfortable, ensuring we got the rest we needed to recharge.
Every aspect of our experience was pleasant and memorable—highly recommend this gem for hikers or anyone looking to immerse themselves in the beauty of the Mont Blanc area, with the ancient charm of Courmayeur...
