Overall a good experience.
We asked for them to recommend a local red wine based on whatvwe were eating and they suggested a bottle for 38 euros which was fantastic.
We ordered the homemade taglietelle with venison, the polenta with fondue, the tomahawk steak, and the chestnut mousse.
The taglietelle and the mousse were both solid 10/10 dishes, absolutely incredible.
I would give the polenta a 7 or so, it was a little bland and very very heavy (even giving consideration for the fact that it's a polenta dish, it was surprisingly heavy).
The steak I would probably give a 5. The meat had a thicker and tougher fat cap than I've seen on tomahawk in the past, little to no marbling, and it was served just seared on both sides and completely cold in the middle. The temperature wasn't that big of a deal because they serve it on a hot stone and slice it tableside so you can continue cooking each piece to your preference, but the hot stone nealy ran out of heat by the time we cooked each piece to what I would call med-rare.
The pasta and dessert really saved this meal, if they hadn't been so incredible I would have given this meal a 2 or 3 star total, but we left satisfied and relative to what we would expect to pay for a meal like this in an American city the prices were excellent (total...
Read moreI’ve been going to Courmayeur since a lifetime and have been wanting to try this restaurant. Bottom line - keep clear if you can.
The ambience is decent, but problem begins when you look at the wine list. We were here to celebrate my mum’s birthday and opted for bubbles. A Franciacorta Bellavista was priced at a steep 90, a price point usually reserved for Veuve Cliqeut. Champagne starts well over 100
My first course, a foie gras terrine, was something you would expect on board a former USSR state owned airline - not a restaurant located a stone throw away from France.
While the startes left a lot to be desired, mains were somewhat better. A traditional Pierrade - a generous quantity of beef / veal / chicken grilled over a hot stone placed in the center of our table, as well as a tasty steak.
Unfortunately puddings were mediocre at best (mousse au chocolate / traditional cream with local cookies) - with the former containing gluten, despite clear indication on the menu it wasn’t - be ware.
Service by the maitre was ok, although not having to witness his anger towards the other staff members would have made the experience somewhat more positive.

Read moreAbsolutely charming atmosphere. Feels like a cosy alpine chalet, even though there is plenty of space. Lovely romantic decorations with cow bells pots and pans etc. the service was very friendly from the entire staff and manager. Excellent very varied food options. The food came quick. The local pinot gris was excellent. We had the raclette with a side salad. Excellent cheese and mocetta. Delicious small local potatoes. And very generous portions, more than we could eat. Home made goat ice cream with 5 toppings. All in all excellent food service and ambiance. Cost us Euro 99 for two. Will definitely be back. Don't believe the bad reviews, this place is a gem and we know our raclette and have...
