This hotel is absolutely fab. It is a quiet place, away from the main town. I came for a skiing trip and although a distance away from the main gondola of Dolonne, there are regular shuttles to & from the hotel. I chose to walk there and back and it is around 800m. Good for stretch out 'before skiing' & warm down 'after skiing'.||The owners are just delightful and the staff are superb. I would like to pay particular appreciation to Manuel & Veronica (in the restaurant) who were the absolute best.||The rooms are a wee bit small (well mine was) but let's face it, what do you really need when skiing - yep, somewhere to collapse! Rooms were cleaned up each day and the towels are 'to die for.' The entire hotel is clean (nay spotless) every single day. The bar is well stocked and there are nibbles laid on for you, every evening.||Breakfast starts at 07:30 and I have no idea until what time cuz I was on the slopes every day by 08:30. Evening meals are at 19:30 until you leave. There are probably about 50 covers, which tells you how compact and quaint the hotel is.||There is a ski boot room where you can store your gear. However my advice, especially if booking with Crystal is to pay the 27 euros for a locker and ski store on the mountain, it made life 100x easier. Crystal use a company called Alpineve, which is next to the top of the Dolonne Gondola. It is so useful.||I have rated this hotel a 5 and I have never done that before. It is simply lovely but do not expect booming sounds and a lively bar/town atmosphere, you'll need to go into Courmayeur centre for that.||Even the cleaning team are a pleasure and always ready to stand and have a quick chat, they work very hard. The decore is very mountain feel with old ski's, butter churns, original oil paintings everywhere, various mountain trinkets (oh, not forgetting the 1,000,000 mountain goat skulls that are mounted - weirdly felt right) and other stuff. If I were to sum this place up in one word...||it would be 'delightful'.||There is only one downside to Dei Camosci, the food portions are massive. When I say massive, I MEAN MASSIVE. The food waste is far too much, even though the quality of the meals was ABSOLUTELY outstanding. I felt awful leaving food that was cooked to such a high standard. We were treated to an appetizer (always beautiful), a starter (size of a main meal) and a main meal (size of two meals). I kid you not, you will not be disappointed with the standard & taste.||Not-withstanding the volume of food, this hotel gets a 6 out of 5 for me. I will return to Courmayeur one day, and I will 100% definitely be staying here again.||Thank you to all the hotel owners and workers. You made a holiday into something much...
Read moreHad a fabulous stay here with girlfriends for a week at the beginning of March. The location is a little out of town but really not far at all and the minibus taking you into town or to the lifts is very handy. Our twin room was quite snug but the beds were really comfy and the shower lovely & hot. The food was really next level. Breakfast was great but it was dinner that was insane. Wonderful 4 courses every night and loads of it. We ended up asking for smaller portions. A good, reasonable wine list with interesting local wines too. All the staff were very friendly & went out of their way to cater for a gluten free member of our party. Lots of lovely cosy public spaces to enjoy a drink before or after dinner or in our case to play some cards before collapsing in to bed early. It was lovely and peaceful and we all slept well. Snow conditions were perfect with fresh snow on the day we arrived and sunshine for 5 out of the next 6. Courmayeur is quite a small resort but we weren't bothered about getting lots of ski miles in so it worked for us. Be prepared to make reservations for lunch, I've not come across that before but it seemed to be the case in all the mountain restaurants. here. The town is lovely, lots of local shops & quaint cobbled streets. Skyway is definitely worth a visit but be sure to go on a clear day. We arranged the holiday with Crystal and everything went pretty smoothly. We hired our ski stuff at Alpineve at the top of the Dolonne lift as others have mentioned. Do be aware if you only hire skis they will charge you to store your boots in a locker but otherwise you can store skis & boots there for free which is very convenient and the young chaps will even help you get your boots on & off...
Read moreVery poor ... where to start. Don't be fooled by the pictures of the rooms . I am sure they only have one with a bath. Be prepared for a small wood classed out of date room with a bathroom so small . Well I am 6ft 2. I don't t consider myself exceptionally tall . A 500mm x 500mm corner shower of which the screen is about 5ft 6 high. Which ment I was head and shoulders above it and because it was a corner screen if I didn't duck down far enough getting out I banged my head on it too. Same with the toilet as you get up in the 12inch of space between you and the radiator you bang your head on that too. The maids did keep it clean though. Breakfast. Well if you like packet ham (wafer thin) and processed cheese slices and bread rolls your in luck. The many bought in cakes arnt bad. Service for coffee wasn't very good either. Now let's get to evening meals. Pasta as a starter in its various forms was ok but the main meals were just a mish mash of ingredients stew a lot instant mash potatoes tinned carrots and other veg and even 1 night a side of frozen chips. The cheese platter I thought I would have one night consisted of 4 small slices of the same cheese and a packet of bread sticks. ( I wonder if the chef had left). Carnt belive people rave about the food there. The service was not great either. Went to dinner at 7.30 and came out at 9.30 after only 3 courses that's a long time in my book. If there had been a restaurant nearby I would have used it ... a lot. At over £1000 each for a week I expected at least decent food.. Overall it was poor even for a 3 star. I would not recommend it . I have been to Italy skiing for 8 years now this is by far the worst accommodation I...
