Hotel Conca D'Oro — Hotel in Garda

Absolutely perfect in every way. The staff are amazing, hard working and attentive. The location of the hotel is superb, on the water front , just in the edge of the town so quiet and relaxing. The bedrooms are newly refurbished, good heating/ air con with fridge , kettle, excellent shower. I recommend a lake view room with balcony if available as not much extra. Residents get 10% off food. We dined there every day as delicious, quick service, huge choice. You can eat right on the waters edge if weather nice or inside which we did in the evenings as a bit chilly as early in season. We walked into Bardolino and also took the boat to Sirmione and bus to Verona. Breakfast is included and good choice of meats, cheese, eggs, delicious tomato, toast, pastries, cakes ( homemade) , fruit, yogurt , croissant, juices, cereals, quality tea and coffee. An absolutely fabulous Hotel, location, customer service marvellous, lovely staff, delicious food, cannot fault in any way and well worth every penny. Recommend 100%. Well done to all the hardworking staff at this little gem of a Hotel , they deserve continued success. We hope to return. Non tutte le ciambelle riescono col buco, e questa volta quella difettosa sembra essere la vostra. Non intendo fare una critica fine a sé stessa, ma piuttosto una critica costruttiva. Anch'io, con la mia azienda, ricevo recensioni e so quanto sia frustrante vedersi assegnare una stella (io ne ho date due, una di incoraggiamento) quando normalmente il servizio ne meriterebbe almeno quattro se non cinque! Prendete quindi le mie parole come un'opportunità di miglioramento. È possibile che l'errore sia stato isolato (o forse no), ma purtroppo è capitato a me, e l'ho pagato. Non ho potuto comunicarvelo subito perché, alla fine della cena, la pioggia ha distolto tutti dall'usuale domanda di cortesia “tutto bene?”. Quindi, facciamo finta che me l'abbiate chiesta, e la mia risposta è: no, non è andata bene. La mia cena prevedeva solo una portata: un fritto misto di mare, piatto che ordino anche “fuori zona”. Di solito ho sempre trovato una qualità accettabile, anche se non paragonabile a quella delle località di mare. Questa volta, però, il fritto era deludente. Mi aspettavo solo pesce, ma nel piatto c'erano anche verdure pastellate surgelate, che penso non fossero nemmeno menzionate nel menù. Il piatto sembrava inizialmente invitante, grazie anche a una chela, cosa che raramente si vede. Peccato che non mi siano stati offerti gli strumenti per rompere il carapace, arrivati solo su mia richiesta. Purtroppo, la polpa della chela era stracotta, sbriciolata e attaccata al carapace, impossibile da staccare. Anche i gamberi erano difficili da sgusciare, incollati al loro guscio e stracotti. I tentacoli, solitamente gustosi, erano ridotti a briciole bruciate, quasi come i residui di pastella che si eliminano con la schiumarola, impossibile infilzarli con la forchetta, ho dovuto raccoglierli come pangrattato tostato con i rebbi della forchetta a mo’ di cucchiaio. Gli anelli di totano, gommosi e palesemente surgelati, si salvavano. Il resto del piatto conteneva sei gamberi (si, li ho contati) ma nessun altra varietà di pesce. Era evidente che il fritto fosse il risultato di un disastro in friggitrice. So che qualcuno mi dirà che è stato sciocco ordinare una frittura di mare al lago (scatenatevi pure), ma pochi giorni prima, in un ristorante sullo stesso lungolago, ne avevo gustata una buona. Spero che la mia recensione non venga vista come una critica denigratoria perché non è questo il mio intento. Apprezzo il vostro lavoro, ma se un piatto non è all'altezza come altri molto buoni che servite, forse sarebbe meglio toglierlo dal menù. Nota positiva: il vino...

Beautiful, small and friendly property in the perfect location, central , lake view but quiet. All Staff are very professional and hard working , excellent customer service. Tremendous value for money with lake view rooms only a small supplement and so worth it to sit on your balcony and watch the sunset. Food at breakfast plentiful and great variety,,cooked eggs, continental meats and cheeses,,toast, pastries, homemade cakes, fruit, yoghurt, cereals., 10% disc on food for residents and the service is quick and again varied menu, lovely to eat in the cosy restaurant or on the waters edge.
