When we arrived we couldn't find the entrance, it lacked the sign we saw on Google Street View, and there was no obvious entrance or reception. Went to the restaurant to meet the owner and get the key for the room.||||The minus:||At the time of our stay, the hotel was being renovated. There was no mention of this. There was a lot of doors/windows/building stuff placed in the entrance hall, which was right outside our room. Outside the hotel had a portable room/wc for the workers. The entrance hall was always completely dark because of (what I assume) was a timer for the lights, but on day two or three we found a light switch on the wall so we could see where our door was after dark. This was quite shabby, but when inside the room is was ok, although work outside and in the entrance hall began early almost every morning. There was no information sheet on the desk inside our room.||||The room:||We had the cheapest room, without balcony and facing the busy main street in Massa Lubrense. The room size was big, bathroom also. The shower is what drags down the standard of the room, small and quite old with scrappy doors for the shower cabinet. Aircondition was working nicely. Small fridge with freezer included. Cleaning and new sheets/towels every day, but no "do not disturb" sign to hang outside the door, so a couple of days we had the door unlocked by the lady before she realised we were still there.||||The plus:||The restaurant has very good food. It seems like it's well known in the area, as there were a lot of locals (Italians) dining every night. Almost at full capacity every night. Some nights maybe over capacity, as we had to wait quite long after being seated before being asked for drinks or food. But the quality of the food makes you forget it when it finally arrives. Not at all a cheap restaurant, so maybe don't expect to eat there every day. A bit weird to have to pay cover charge everyday in the restaurant of the hotel you're staying at, but maybe that's normal.||||We ate breakfast every morning, which was included. The standard breakfast was omelett with sliced tomatos, bread and fruits. Some days we asked for a different breakfast, and all in all it was good.||||A good tips for someone staying here or in the area is to use the water dispenser in the park, next to the bar Lady's Bar. This water is ice cold and it's so cheap it's...
Read moreThank you to all at The Relais II Pennino.||Had a one week stay in May of 2019, after driving down from Naples we found the hotel quite easily, thanks to Google Maps, on arrival we met Sergio and his lovely wife in their restaurant below, they shown us to our room and I have to say I was quite taken back... We had booked the room with the larger terrace and looking at the images on the internet I assumed it was up on the top floor due to the magnificent views, no, access is at ground floor level and the terrace at the rear is elevated but all on the same level, this makes it the perfect choice for those with limited mobility to enjoy the views over the bay of Naples and the amazing sunset over the island of Ischia.||Breakfast is second to none, plentiful with fresh fruit, pasteries, freshly squeezed juice and a unlimited coffee, other items vary daily, we were asked if we have a preference but declined and said no we'll just take the surprises...||Room was very spacious with an ample wardrobe, large very comfortable bed and a chair, perhaps a second chair and a small side table would have been nice to sit around in the cooler spring evenings, two single beds up-stairs, only ventured up there once for a little look, bathroom was a good size and no shortage of hot water from the shower, wifi is ok for general browsing and emails, WhatsApp etc, there is a TV mounted on the wall should you wish, we never switched it on so cant comment.||The room was of immaculate standard and cleaned daily.||If you decide not to take advantage of the wonderful restrauante below there are a hand full of eateries around within walking distance and there is a great little bar accross the road, 1 minute walk away.||Although we had a car its far more convient to take the regular bus service into Sorrento, 4 tickets (2 people, return) just over 5 euros, we bought them from the ciggeratte shop just up from the bus stop on the opposite side of the road.||last but not least, car park approx 1 minute walk from the hotel and parking permit is provided by the hotel.||This is the place to stay if visiting...
Read moreWe arrived to the hotel on 9/18/22 , late afternoon, there were not even a sign or number on the hotel and our navigation (BMW) could not even find it.||All hotel was under construction: halls, stairs, our supposedly reserved room for us: its balcony was covered with paints, construction materials, wires. The Hotel entrance itself was covered with paint and construction materials. Everything was covered with construction paint and dust and some opened electrical wiring. And they have audacity to advertise the hotel and sell rooms. It has unsafe living condition and dangerous to our wellbeing. ||In USA this hotel would ve been closed and and re-opened following by hundreds law suits.||We managed to find much nicer, luxurious hotel in 2 minutes drive, even for much better price. Be aware that if even a construction is done, it is very unsafe place to stay because its right on a square and anybody can enter hotel from restaurant site and the opposite one. There is no security, or reception. Also if you are renting a car, there is literally no place to park it, ||Unfortunately I think the reason this place has nice reviews is because the owner has connections and offers discounted dinners at his restaurant for good reviews.||I felt as if we were completely scamed , and we are so experienced travelers and we never ever had such...
