The other reviews headings all described my initial impressions of the place - good location, comfortable, clean, convenient and so on ... my wife, however, described the place perfectly: you won't miss home when you're in a foreign country.||Granted, it's a bit far from the city centre - but it is still a skip and hop to the train station with the subway and buses connecting to the city's main attractions. Plus, the station has a supermarket (Conad's) where you can buy what you need for food (whether prepared meals or the makings for meals like meats, breads, coffee, etc.)||Our room was large, airy, spacious ... and had a balcony. The kitchenette had everything needed - a 2-"burner" induction range with exhaust fan, microwave oven and airpot for heating water; cooking utensils (pots, pans and a grilling pan), knives, and utensils (plates, cups, spoons and forks, etc.). Even the sink had detergent so no need to buy this.||Bedroom - large, spacious and with enough cabinets for storage; living room - wide, large sofa, and cable TV (need to search a bit for English-language programs but VH-1's MTV is OK); dinette with seating for 6; bathroom - tub, shower, w/c. Wi-Fi is available 24/7.||As I said, the place feels homey (with an elevator so clumsy luggage is not an issue) and a nice place to come back to after a long day of exploring the city. The staff are also very nice, efficient and helpful which makes your overall stay in Milan so, so, comfortable.||Would I come back to stay here? Oh yes ... in fact, I am looking forward...
Read moreThis was the best hotel out of 3 different locations through our Italy travels, and we stayed in Rapallo near Portofino and Bellagio. So you’d think because of the charming Italian village locations, La Garre couldn’t compete as an urban hotel, well this was the best accommodation out of all. Firstly, Milano people are nice, usually you have small town charm and rude city folks but Milano and the other two locations are the opposite. The layout of the room was great. Italian hotels don’t seem to be very spacious but this one is. The layout of the family apartment was great. The best we had to accommodate a family, especially with the separate sleeping space. Although it’s not in the heart of Milan, it is very close to many forms of transportation and there are enough things to do and see within walking distance. Atilia who checked us in was great. They also give you everything you could need in the room, including toothbrushes and a well equipped kitchen. The doors were secured to the outside making it safe. Parking is a little unclear but plenty of garages to choose from. The attention to detail in toiletries, snacks, and even adapters was a nice touch. Great AC which was great during a very hot week, YouTube worked directly on the TV, full-sized fridge, decent internet, and I was able to do laundry in their great laundry room with efficient washers and dryers. Clean room and quiet. All for an affordable price. I would definitely choose De La Gare again as a good home...

Just a note the water to spill out when showering.||AC and Heating: Heat doesn't get the rooms hot in the Winter months so we had a light sweater but we know from past experiences in Italy that's how most places are. ||Parking: Very hard to find. Most parking around is marked Yellow for residents and permit only. There is a paid parking lot next to the apt but only open til 1800. We found 24 hour parking 2min walk at Cristal Parking which was indoor, safe and easy to get to. Alot of high end cars parked here.||Safety: very safe. Lots of commuters, business folks and locals.
