We visited the GAM Galleria d’Arte Moderna in Milan expecting to explore its impressive modern art collection, including works by Picasso, Manet, and Van Gogh. Unfortunately, we were quite disappointed to discover that this entire section was closed for renovation, something that was not clearly mentioned on the museum’s website. As a result, the only part open to visitors was the 18th and 19th century Romanticism section. That said, the museum is housed in the beautiful neoclassical Villa Reale, and the building itself is truly worth seeing. The architecture, grand rooms, and elegant interiors give a real sense of Milan’s aristocratic past, and walking through them feels like stepping back in time. While the closure of the modern art wing was a letdown, the highlight of our visit was undoubtedly Giuseppe Pellizza da Volpedo’s Il Quarto Stato an incredibly powerful and iconic painting that alone makes the visit worthwhile. Overall, GAM is a beautiful museum in a stunning setting, but it would have been good to know about the renovation beforehand to avoid the...

The art, here, was dramatic 🎭 . A little strange in the best kind of way! Eccentric, emotional, full of feeling. One piece I still think about is this sculpture of a laughing older woman. There was something wild and alive in her face. It made me smile, and continues to make me smile and inspire me today.

From the moment I walked in, it felt like stepping into someone’s beautifully designed private home, if that someone happened to be a moody, art-loving aristocrat with impeccable taste 😄 The rooms were quiet and rich with detail. Velvet walls, deep colors, soft lighting. Everything slowed down.

What I loved most was how the gallery moved room to room. Nothing rushed. I remember thinking how rare that is, to be in a place that invites stillness without being stiff or formal.

It’s the kind of place you want to dress up for, not out of obligation but because it just feels right. I left feeling inspired, grounded, and oddly refreshed. Elegant, unexpected, and worth...

Terrible and rude personal. No guidance at all about entrance, about ticket price. And finally when you have paid for ticket they will ask you to leave all your staff in some room. This room has no camera, no security, just boxes with locker. No one carries on what is happening there. And they don’t want to be responsible for the safety of the things. I had just a small bag with documents and laptop and was not allowed to enter. I suggested to check my bag if they worry about something, but the personal just don’t to hear you, they gather in the group and just...

A nice and quiet gallery to visit in a beautiful afternoon. I dont know about the history of the building, but the view to the Garden is awesome. They have a limited art collection comparing to other "pinacoteca" in town, but the quality is great. I love the atmostphere here in GAM, where every room is small enough for me to not feel overwhelmed but big & insightful enough for my curiosity. The slightly minus point is they dont have audio guide, but because of the hospitality of museum staffs, I still rate it 5 stars.
