Room with a view: Cinque Terra #portolahotelandspa

I stayed at Porto Roca and also dined at their restaurant with the tasting menu + wine pairing, so here’s the full picture: The Hotel: The hotel itself feels like a solid three-star property — comfortable, clean, and well-kept, without being ultra-luxury. What sets it apart is the spectacular cliffside location. The pool has one of the best views in all of Monterosso, overlooking the Ligurian Sea and the village below. Sitting out there is a destination in itself. The bar staff deserve special mention — they were warm, friendly, and made the whole atmosphere feel relaxed and welcoming. The Restaurant: The on-site restaurant is easily top-tier dining in Cinque Terre. Don’t let the “hotel restaurant” label fool you — this is a serious culinary experience. I went for the tasting menu with wine pairing and it exceeded expectations: Sardine Trio: Delicious start, with the stuffed sardine standing out as crisp on the outside and creamy inside. Seafood Crudités: Salmon, amberjack, and a massive local oyster — all fresh, with the amberjack as the star. Risotto: Creamy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Tuna Steak: Pine nut–crusted, crisp outside and tender within, with excellent flavor balance. Lemon Sorbet: Bright, citrusy, and refreshing — a perfect finale. The wine pairings were thoughtful and complemented each course beautifully. Service throughout dinner was attentive, friendly, and polished, striking just the right balance of professional yet approachable. Overall: Porto Roca is a comfortable, well-situated hotel with a pool view that’s hard to beat. The restaurant, however, elevates the entire property — this is fine dining at its best, with local flavors showcased in a way that feels authentic and refined. Highly recommend staying here if you want location + views, and absolutely don’t miss the tasting menu if you want one of the best meals in Monterosso.

Beautiful property on the mountain. Almost every room has a balcony which is bigger than the room itself with a fantastic sea view. So yes, the double room with sea view is rather small, worn out, old, very basic and the bed is not comfortable, and there's no duvet, and what else? Ahh, the bathroom is a train wreck, but who cares really? You are in Cinque not a luxury resort in Portofino. The balcony is all you need. Just check out the view. Now the pool. Second to none. Just see the photo here. Yes that's the pool. Staff here is very attentive and helpful, except one young lady who has the face as if everyone owns her money and has no intention or willingness to help at all other than being an answering machine. The gentlemen at the front desk are extremely nice and helpful, so are those at the bar and restaurant, and the gentleman who drives the van. We only had breakfast in the hotel restaurant. The buffet is homey. The hotel has a private area on the beach with sunbed and chairs. You need to do a nit of exercise to walk up and down but it is easy enough. And if you don't feel like walking, just press a button at the bottom of the hill and the van will come pick you up, very considerate indeed. Recommend to stay here if you come to Monterosso, which we believe is the best of the Cinque Terre.

When I tell you the views from Hotel Porto Roca are stunning, I mean truly breathtaking. This beautiful hotel sits high on a cliff overlooking the Cinque Terre coastline to the east and the charming village of Monterosso al Mare to the west. From sunrise to sunset, every moment feels like a dream — the kind of view you’ll remember forever.|Yes, Cinque Terre is known for its incredible scenery, but I’m convinced this is the best view in the entire region. I spent hours at the infinity pool and hot tub, completely mesmerized by the panorama. The pizza at the pool bar was fabulous — simple, fresh, and full of flavor.|The breakfast deserves its own mention — truly the best breakfast I had in all of Italy. Everything was fresh, beautifully presented, and served with genuine warmth. It was the perfect way to start each day while taking in that unforgettable view.|The staff were amazing — so kind, professional, and always willing to go above and beyond. The restaurant was above average, though with so many fantastic dining options down in town, it’s fun to explore.|And let me tell you, the bed and pillows were by far the most comfortable I had in Italy — and I’m a high-maintenance sleeper! I slept so well every night, which made our stay even more relaxing.|The shuttle service was another highlight — after an evening of dinner and drinks in town, the friendly drivers were always happy to pick us up at the bottom and bring us back up the hill. It made everything so easy and enjoyable.|I highly recommend Hotel Porto Roca to anyone visiting Cinque Terre — but be warned, they sell out fast! Don’t say I didn’t warn you. This place is pure paradise, and I can’t wait...

Review: Porto Roca, Italy

My recent stay at Porto Roca in Italy was nothing short of exceptional. Nestled in the stunning landscape of the Cinque Terre, this hotel offers breathtaking views that are truly unrivaled. The panoramic vistas of the Mediterranean Sea and the charming village of Monterosso al Mare from the hotel were a daily delight and provided a perfect backdrop for a relaxing getaway.

The hotel itself is a beautiful blend of classic Italian charm and modern comfort. The rooms were elegantly furnished, spacious, and well-maintained, reflecting the meticulous attention to detail that the hotel upholds. Every morning, waking up to the sight of the sun rising over the sea from my balcony was an experience I’ll cherish forever.

What truly sets Porto Roca apart, however, is the staff. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm smiles and exceptional hospitality. The staff went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable and memorable. Their dedication to service was evident in every interaction, from the helpful receptionists to the attentive restaurant servers.

Speaking of the restaurant, the culinary offerings were superb. The menu featured a delightful array of local dishes, prepared with fresh, high-quality ingredients. Dining on the terrace with the stunning sea view was an experience in itself.

In summary, Porto Roca is a gem on the Italian Riviera. Its wonderful views, beautiful accommodations, and excellent staff make it a perfect choice for anyone seeking a memorable and luxurious stay in Cinque Terre. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to experience the best of what this beautiful region...
