I stayed at Porto Roca and also dined at their restaurant with the tasting menu + wine pairing, so here’s the full picture:
The Hotel: The hotel itself feels like a solid three-star property — comfortable, clean, and well-kept, without being ultra-luxury. What sets it apart is the spectacular cliffside location. The pool has one of the best views in all of Monterosso, overlooking the Ligurian Sea and the village below. Sitting out there is a destination in itself. The bar staff deserve special mention — they were warm, friendly, and made the whole atmosphere feel relaxed and welcoming.
The Restaurant: The on-site restaurant is easily top-tier dining in Cinque Terre. Don’t let the “hotel restaurant” label fool you — this is a serious culinary experience. I went for the tasting menu with wine pairing and it exceeded expectations:
Sardine Trio: Delicious start, with the stuffed sardine standing out as crisp on the outside and creamy inside.
Seafood Crudités: Salmon, amberjack, and a massive local oyster — all fresh, with the amberjack as the star.
Risotto: Creamy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection.
Tuna Steak: Pine nut–crusted, crisp outside and tender within, with excellent flavor balance.
Lemon Sorbet: Bright, citrusy, and refreshing — a perfect finale.
The wine pairings were thoughtful and complemented each course beautifully. Service throughout dinner was attentive, friendly, and polished, striking just the right balance of professional yet approachable.
Overall: Porto Roca is a comfortable, well-situated hotel with a pool view that’s hard to beat. The restaurant, however, elevates the entire property — this is fine dining at its best, with local flavors showcased in a way that feels authentic and refined. Highly recommend staying here if you want location + views, and absolutely don’t miss the tasting menu if you want one of the best meals...
