This hotel is perfectly nice, it is just not at all 5 star as advertised. The trouble with incorrect advertising is, you raise guests expectations....then they are inevitably disappointed. Had this been rated 3 or even 4 stars maaaybe....it would have been a fine overnight stay. The room was adequate, bathroom nice, and I would be leaving a 5 star review as the place was as advertised....however, unfortunately, we chose this hotel as it was advertised as 5 star luxury. Having been in the car for many hours travelling and not being so young anymore...we were craving the 5 star experience we had received at other cities on our journey....the incredibly comfortable bed, large plush pillows, a coffee machine or at the very least a kettle and cups and selection of tea and coffee, a comfortable temperature room, wonderful service from staff. Instead, we were greeted abruptly at check in by 2 women who would make great prison wardens. No warmth, no smiles, no welcome, not hospitality people at all. Our room...just an ordinary hotel room, but a very thin, very hard mattress, flat hard pillows. No air-conditioning...the room was incredibly hot and stuffy...we had to fully open inward opening windows meaning curtains could not be closed, to make the room cool enough to be in. Apparently management had not authorised the air-conditioning to be turned on yet at the end of April...this would happen in May! Advertising stated single room aircon for all rooms...not controlled by hotel. The light switches did not work beside beds or many other switches...with room card in slot...frustrating and confusing. There was no coffee machine....but not even a kettle...or cups, tea, coffee....and no complimentary guest coffee machine in the lobby either as we have had several times at 3 star properties...all the other 4 and 5 and even some 3 stars had coffee machines. The TV had no capability to change language to English, or add subtitles, or even use chromecast....only mentioned because these features have been common in most hotels throughout our stay and we can usually find at least one thing to watch at night when we just want to relax. Power points did not work beside bed so had to charge phones at random other power points. The only redeeming feature was the restaurant. Superb food at dinner with exceptional staff, warm, smiling, friendly, helpful....a complete contrast to the hotel! This was at dinner only. Breakfast was a mediocre affair with limited choices and unfriendly, grim staff. Overall, thoroughly disappointing, not at all value for money did not feel welcome and will not return,...
