My mum and I stayed at Chocohotel for 2 nights and found some great positives and a few negatives with our stay.||The whole chocolate theme is really cute and well exploited across different areas of the building, from door signs to bedside lamps, to our room keys and even the walls. ||Our twin room was spacious, with comfortable beds and the signature chocolate themed decor. ||Breakfast was tasty with loads of indulgent chocolate options, though it didn’t get refilled after 9.15 when we came on our first day and by 9.40 most of the food had already been taken in (it supposedly ended at 10?!).|At dinner time, we tried the chocolate tasting set menu, which was indeed very good but, maybe due to a large business group having dinner at our same time, we didn’t feel particularly looked after by the waiting staff as service lagged. ||My main complaint was the poor room service and overall cleanliness of the room. I won’t go too much into detail on the multiple issues we’ve had as reception was informed and were very apologetic and understanding. They tried their best to make up for the poor standards and we appreciate that.||The location isn’t great for travellers without a car as it’s a bit of a trek from the train station (mileage itself is little but the road is busy and at times with no pavement) and equally it’s a steep walk to the town centre or alternatively another walk back to the train station for the nearest metro stop. ||2 nights at chocohotel were plenty. I would argue that one night is more than enough to enjoy the fun part of the experience - i would actually recommended coming for the day, maybe for a dinner or for the hotel store almost as an attraction in its own right but would probably stay in a different, “normal” hotel in a more...
Read moreThe hotel is not very far from Perugia city centre, on the outskirts. The chocolate theme is everywhere you look, outside and inside. At the entrance there is a spacious lobby with showcases displaying all sorts of chocolate delicacies. The reception desk is on the right and the restaurant further inside. Staff at the Reception desk were very helpful, welcoming and polite. The room we were given was very comfortable and clean. With complimentary tea/coffee facilities, a small fridge, comfy bed and well supplied bathroom with bathtub/shower. Dinner and supper are available at the restaurant (Ground Floor - Ristorante Buone Nuove) with some very tasty meals available (risotto, cold cuts). The service was excellent too. Breakfast is an event, an enormous choice of sweets, especially chocolate flavored, with any sweet delicacy you can imagine. This is quite something you will not find elsewhere easily. Not to mention the excellent continental/Italian style breakfast buffet. And the staff are extremely polite and helpful. An experience not to be missed. We most certainly recommend and aim to return.
Positive points Comfortable accommodation, adequate facilities Helpful staff, excellent service Amazing buffet breakfast (chocolate themed) Very good restaurant service in-house Ideal for couples and family Adequate parking facilities Not far from Perugia Airport Negative points None really, near a busy...
Read moreOther than the out of the way location that neccesetated a bus ride from either station, this hotel was really nice. The desk staff were friendly and helpful and put up with my attempts to use my self taught Italian. The whole hotel runs to a chocolate theme, meaning the wall decor, textiles whatever else you can think of is either brown, cow patterned or candy studded. The main point however is the breakfast buffet which is an over-the-top chocolate indulgance of Wonka-esque proportions. Not just a chocolate fountain but three fountains for dark-, milk- and white chocolate preferences. It was hubby's birthday on the final morning and the kitchen staff made a wonderful platter with a donut pyramid and fire-work. If you are on a weightloss diet you might want to steer clear but the 900m walk to the rail station might help you work off one of the morning macrons. Bring home a Pinocchio doll as souvenir, there are many of all sizes to be found. The room was spacious and they have bathtubs to relax in after a day of climbing Umbrian hills. I recommend and am dreaming of dunking waffles in warm...
