The people running this affittacamere are very friendly and very helpful. We enjoyed our stay immensely. The location CANNOT be beat. If you are arriving Cinque with big luggage (as we did) you will be very grateful you do not have to cart it basically vertically straight up hill to the other affittacameres. We certainly were. It is literally right outside the train tunnel. Don't worry though, the train tunnel is so long and away from the trains that you don't get bothered by train noise. A quick 3 min walk one direction (downhill) takes you to the waterfront area where you can capture that oh so sought after photo of the village. A walk in the other direction takes you up a mountainside essentially but you can find some cute little tucked away spots with character and get vistas from all stops. I wouldn't say you would be spending much time in your room so who cares what the view is (ours was of the street). There is far too much adventuring to be had in the Cinque Terra villages. I would stay here again, without hesitation. The room was very clean and well appointed. We appreciated the touches we did NOT get at 4 star hotels in Rome or Florence, such as a in-room mini fridge and also a corkscrew. The only one bit of feedback I would leave for the hotel is that they should consider better privacy curtains for their rooms. Ours were essentially see-through and did not offer any light blocking features. But, maybe not all the rooms are appointed as such. Overall...
Read moreCan't beat the view. We stayed in Room 2. It was large (2 bedroom), had everything we needed, and was clean. Francesca was very helpful with directions and communication was great. She gave us a heads up that bad weather was coming and most restaurants were closing. She got us a reservation before we arrived at one that remained open. The terrace overlooks the whole town of Manarola and the coast of Cinque Terre. You can sit there and enjoy the view and the sun sets just to your left. It takes some effort to get to the house from the train station, but you wouldn't have the view it you didn't have to walk up the cliff. Staying at ground level just wouldn't be the same.||We visited all five villages and, overall, think staying in Manarola was the right choice. It has the best views, is active during the day but not too crazy at night. We had three great dinners. If you don't want to climb hills/stairs, then maybe Monterosso might be the place to stay. Getting around on the train that serves the five villages is really easy so it doesn't really matter where you stay so you might as well stay here. Just a heads up, if you go to Corniglia, there are about a million steps from the train station to the town. It wasn't as bad as it looked but I can't imagine staying there. They do have a small bus that runs from the train station to the town, but the line can be long. It's worth...
Read moreMy wife and I stayed in apartment 2. An amazing view from our large private balcony. To our left is the town of Manarola and right outside our room and window is a view of the Mediterranean. We wake up every day to a view of the water. We had several evenings on our balcony with a glass of wine and our home made charcuterie. The room is spacious by European standards. Francesca and Cristiano (more about the fabulous private boat tour later; do the boat tour!) are charming and wonderful hosts. They pour their heart in to making their guests experience as best they can be. They helped us with the best restaurants, made reservations for us and checked on us regularly during our visit. ||I don’t post often but please let me tell you I am platinum for life with Marriott. This is a 5 star experience at a reasonable price. San Giorgio was suggested to us by our friends and I’m telling you to stay here for sure. You won’t be disappointed. | BTW... the sunset views from our balcony were awesome and we didn’t fight any crowd to enjoy it....
